WELLINGTON

From the American third line on the right side of the road facing the British, the American line misunderstood the order and began an orderly withdrawal. The British mistook this for a retreat and broke ranks in a charge to finish the Yankees off. As the Americans withdrew, they reloaded their muskets. When the order was given, the American line turned back to face the onrushing British line and fired a volley. The volley ripped the pursuing British infantry to shreds and turned the tide of the battle.

This is the American 2nd line on the right side of the road looking towards the road in the distance. When the British advanced past this point to the American 3rd line of dense, they deployed their cannon here. When the Americans counterattacked and destroyed the British infantry, they stormed the cannon here and took them.

The road is directly ahead. The cannon cut-out in the distance represents the position of the British artillery when captured. This is the right side of the American line facing the British.

The American 1st line of defense looking towards the direction the British advanced. The line was responsible for taking out many of the British officers. The best shots were placed in this line. It dropped back as the British advanced.

Tarlton gets away. He would flee down the Green River Road the same way he had come to destroy Morgan. The British Dragoons towards the end of the battle ignored an order by Tarlton to attack and instead withdrew from the field.
