Watching a real howler on cable. A 1968 Italian production "The Battle of El Alamein". Nothing very accurate, so far. Everything in error, from some incorrect weapons, uniforms, and vehicles. It is done from the Axis point of view. Best Howler so far: British armored attack led by several M-113's (the world famous APC from Vietnam era). All that said, there are some correct things and some decent action. Gotta go, there is another armored battle underway with the Allies using Patton's and the Axis using some Chaffee's and what look to be authentic M-13's and a Semovente M40-75/18! -- lancer

I think i know that film, i recall a scene where the german posted some dummy figures and guns..is that it?By the way the main actor Enrico Maria Salerno really fought in WWII , R.S.I. and was in Coltano allied concentration camp with Ezra Pound (the famous american poet). There was another El Alamein movie made in 1954, i have the dvd but didn't watch it yet , i presume is more accurate than '68's one and then there is "El Alamein: The Line of the Fire" made in the 2000's.I think the M113 were the most used tanks alongside M41 in the movies of that period, but i think that with more care the film mkers should have used Shermans, they were in fact in service with some units in the late 60's in Italy.

I think we have the same film here. There was a scene with dummy artillery. I may have mis-identified the Italian light tank as a M-13. Is it a M-41? There were a few in the film but I only saw the one Sermovente. -- lancer
