I am in the planning stages of a much larger diorama depicting this important battle, referred to as the "Stalingrad of the Far East"...............

Fantastic terrain board to work with. Like the building complex. Lots of action, looks like fun to do this layout. Robin.

MY GOODNESS ... {eek3} ... has anyone ever told you, you are pretty good at this stuff {sm4}
Wow, that is one heck of a display. I didn't know that, along with all the many other eras that you build, you were into the Pacific / CBI areas?

Love the involved, complex layout and all of your diorama material. Really well done!

I just started to gather some more information on this particular action. I see that you are the distributor of the new line "Ready for Action" soldiers. They are making a line for the "Battle of Kohima" which caught my attention. Also, on the DISH AHC channel (American Heroes Channel) they have a 1 1/2 long special on the struggle of the Commonwealth forces and finally breaking the back of the Japanese attacking forces.

I don't know how you keep upping the bar but this one pushes it up a few notches ....

Thanks Larry, it's a great hobby that brings me loads of enjoyment.

Funny that you mention the R4A line; that in fact is what got this display idea going as I am planning a similar one for Chicago (yes, planning one for Chicago as it's never too early to start thinking about the show of shows in the US) and started looking at my collection and this is the end result.

It was a brutal battle, the hand to hand fighting around the tennis court was medieval, brutal in fact, as bad as anything on the Eastern Front.

The Pacific has always held a lot of interest for me, dating back to the Marines/Japanese figures in ho/oo scale that Airfix made, plus the plethora of Pacific movies that were shown on TV in my youth (Merrill's Marauders, Bataan, Objective Burma, Sands of Iwo Jima, Back to Bataan, None but the brave(I think that was the title, it was about a plane that crashed on an island and the Marines on board who fought it out with the Japanese garrisoned on the island), Halls of Montezuma, on and on it goes), not to mention the recent Pacific themed movies.

I plan on a much larger layout than this one depicting this battle, just need to carve out the time as it will be quite an undertaking.......................

Great job on your diorama George, lots going on in there and even with a second visit I'm seeing stuff I missed first time. :salute::

Greetings George,

Thanks very much for a nice diorama of the Battle of Kohima. I always enjoy your work.

Kohima is one of the "forgotten battles" of WWII. It was a very significant battle of the war in Asia, in particular the China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre.

The Kohima and Imphal battles put an end to the Japanese UG-O operation to invade India.

All the Best, Raymond. {bravo}}
