Poniatowski has chosen his battlefield Raszyn, to face the Austrian forces, a town a few miles from Warsaw, he could not politically afford to abandon without a fight. "It was a good defensive position behind a river Utrata which was lined with heavy marsh crossed by few roads and bridges."
Polish forces control them all. In April, the river is impassable except by bridges, especially since the area around the Utrata are swampy.:salute::Guy.
