I've just recieved new that Prince August, the Irish based company famous for making toy soldier moulds has released both painted (matt finish) figures and castings for soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

Firstly there are 4 figures on issue posed in firing and loading positions:

The castings look very well sculted and cast, and are pinted to a good standard, but the wooden base of the painted figures detracts if you want them in a massed firing line.
I think that these figures will go very well with any army of that period, and I do hope that further figures (officers, artillery, cavalry) will be coming in the near future.

Check the castings out here http://www.princeaugust.ie/ or the painted figures here http://www.edmancollection.com/

Castings cost €19.95

John, they would go well will the Rose Marlburian line, wouldn't they? Not too much modification required on those, to make King William's army. Stadden also made figures in the 54mm custom line, from that period.

Actually, they could be used for much of the coalition fighting against the French in the Low Countries and Germany, too, I think, with little modification.

This is a very nice new line to see hit the market.

Prost!
