Hey guys-

Just settling back into the routine following Hack yesterday. It was a wonderful day to be involved with the hobby. Ran into Richard first thing yesterday morning. Can't say enough about how nice Richard really is- really couldn't ask for a better man for the job.

Sooooo, all the Chicago displays were out- the AWI one is still my favorite. Really neat to see the whole Britains active catalog spread out- the stuff really grabs your attention. Very dynamic.

Richard had the Modern Afghanistan Help for Heroes set on display and I told him I'd buy it- "No Chris, it comes out in 2 weeks". " I don't think you heard me Richard, I'll take it!!" " No Chris, you didn't hear me- it comes out in two weeks." I was quite puzzled as I was looking at the set right there on his table. The battle of wills was on!! {sm4} It took me a moment but then it clicked- Richard wasn't actually selling sets, the sets were on display only. Dejected, I made my rounds and revisited that awesome set a couple more times in the day. You guys have done a great job with Modern- GIVE US MORE!! {bravo}}

Also- Dave, I saw your Nile GunBoat- it really is a spectacle to behold. {bravo}}I asked Richard if he would be ok if I painted "STANDS ALONE" on the front prow- he said "Knock yourself out!!" {sm4} It really is going to be a centerpiece of your collection.

Richard really is a great guy- he is one of the main people who brought me into this hobby! Can we get pictures of the displays? Can't wait for the Heroes set OR the gunboat!

Hi Chris,

Yes indeed that would be the center of the collection! You totally slay me! Glad to hear you saw the Britains sets and displays. Did you manage to find any Romans or M1A1s? Just curious as to what you were hunting for at the show.

Talk to you soon

Dave

The Nile Gunboat will be spectacular
Well done to WB.

Got to spend some time with a fellow Zulu War Collector who created a mini dio for the show an was good enough to spend time chatting about it. Thank you Sir Rick Walker for the time we spent chatting togther an your dad Richard for putting up with me......The Lt.

Hey Dave- I did purchase the Roman Optio from FL and he is the best figure in their Roman catalogue so far, imo. Otherwise, I didn't see ANY modern warfare pieces outside of FOV, which I have already. Was a bit surprised by that. Snagged a HB Panther which rounds out a Panther company for me (I believe, I have 4 now :).

Somehow I walked out of there with 3 German WW2 pieces- still shaking my head how that happened. Anyway, 2012 is strictly Romans. I'm down with WW2 for now. Will leave the door open for modern figures however. Things are just too expensive for me to be forward deployed on so many fronts!! {sm2}{sm4}

Hi Chris looks like a great show glad you had a good time and found some new treasures.Thanks to the LT for the neat photo's.Mike B.^&grin

Some serious eye candy there.....That boat WOW realy nice!

Also- sorry Sandor that I didn't snag any pictures. My picture taking skills have lagged tremendously.

One thing I did want to say as well- I saw the new WW1 British gun and gun emplacement- really really nice set!!

I have the emplacement, machine gun, and just ordered the gun and some figures. To this I have begun to/will add some K&C WWI Brits, as well as some Frontline WWI Brits, and some ONWTC Brits/Germans. The Britains WWI trench is VERY nice and quite large. Highly recommended.

just as I finish setting up this little scene and took up a good prone unsupported picture position, my son and his buddies pull up in the drive. You could hear the stunned silence. My boy goes "Dont' look, and he may not know where here!! {sm4}{sm3}"

STANDS ALONE!!
