Have been working for a couple of weeks in getting all the figures organized, making a base and getting a spot ready in one of my cabinets to set up these beautiful figures.
I made the base from Styrofoam and added the snow effectwith white glue, baking soda and paint. Added some regular and birch trees fromDept 56 (first time I used these and liked them a lot) and some evergreens fromScenic Express which I dusted with flat white with the air gun to “winterize”them a bit with flat white.

The details on these figures are amazing. Each miniature isa work of art!
So unusual and colorful!

Great diorama and a real regret of mine in not collecting this series. I've done a few dioramas of other battles around the same time but unfortunately missed this one. Nice collection and very well done. Regards Greg.

Terrific diorama! Thanks for sharing your collection and work.

Such a unique series. So many times I have been tempted to pull the trigger on these lovely posed figures. Once again John has done an amazing job on these. Great to see them out and about. Robin.

Wow, what an outstanding dio you built-those are such great figures. :salute::

Very nice diorama! The trees turned out great. I appreciate you describing how you did the scenics and the base.

The BOS is an earlier range of John's and one of the more popular ones that he's done from the 18th C series.

You did an outstanding job in setting this up. Thanks for sharing all those pics too!!

Mark (RevWarBuff) took the words out of my mouth … really done well.

I have always enjoyed the uniqueness of this range as well as the excellent work done by John. Looks like I have to check out Dept 56 for some trees. These look quite nice.

Great job with photos, setup and display … and more.

Thanks for all the possitive feed back. Always appreciated.
Must check regular trees from the same Dept 56. The trees came with a sturdy base so they can easily be placed on a glass or wooden shelf to supplement a display that does not have a groung cover base. The regular winter trees came with a cardinal in one of the branches that easiky clipoed off.
The trees can be pulled out if the stock base easily. I kept these bases as I might use them for other trees I might want to place durectly on a shelf.
The trees are made of wires civered with some material. So you can bend the trees and open them up as you like. Took a coupke of te larger trees and cut the branches with a wire cutter, to use as the saplings seen around the base.
Thanks again!

Great Job. I have a similar set up. Think of a Fresco. I took the baseball bat display frame from Michaels (hobby lobby) and filled with the set in line (frame is horizontal not vertical).French and Indians chasing the Rangers from left to right- (its the way the figures just seem to be designed to be shown best). I am going to disassemble and put thin mirror tile in the back ground to give depth. Whats nice is I can hang it on a wall- although heavy.
your work and display is brilliant and an example of what the hobby has morphed into!!
