Does anyone know how accurate this K&C model is of the 105mm howitzer? To me it looks like the 105mm Howitzer M2A1 but sits on the M2A2 Carriage. Double shield arrangement and a few other minor upgrades which you see more in Korea and Vietnam periods. So would this be the correct carriage used for the gun in '44 around the time of the Bulge? But there also was a M2A1 carriage, which one would be more correct for WW2?

I would have to check my books at home, but I believe that the M2A2 carriage DID see service in late WW2. If I remember that correctly then the K&C model is right for Ardennes actions. The US Army had so many 105mm howitzers captured, destroyed or worn out in the Bulge actions that they obtained some 25-pounders from the UK and re-equipped a couple battalions (probably in Ninth US Army which served right next to (and sometimes under) 21 Army Group). The K&C howitzer can represent a new replacment gun.

OK, quick Google check shows that 1) the "Modeling the US Army in WW2" website mentions that the M2A2 carriage was adopted in August, 1943 and a photo from a US Army Technical Manual shows an M2A2 carriage in a 1944 manual. So go for it.

It has been a while since I have had mine out of the box, but since K&C usually sculpts based on a plastic model kit, the gun might sahre a common problem with many fine kits. Most plastic models of US artillery are based on surviving examples and usually have post-WW2 tires and rims. Not a deal breaker but it's a common problem in kits.

The lunette is also not accurate. It should pivot up in firing position and pivot down when hitched to a prime mover.
Attached are some photos of the corrected lunette. (Please excuse the quality of the photos)

Yes, I noted that when it was first released..... but I can see why it wasn't incorporated into the production, as it would have been an added cost, and liable to breaking due to the fineness of the parts .

I can also say that the gun looks accurate, apart for that, going on my memory of serving on the M2 A2 in the mid-1970's after they were brought back from Vietnam and issued to our Regiment.

Looks like the part could have been incorrectly assembled at the factory. Not sure how hard it would be to correct it. And if corrected, would the gun trail be dragging on the ground during towing. Michael
