Hi All,

I was searching for more WW1 period drama and documentaries and came across this movie.

I saw about half of this. Not my idea of entertainment. There are strange skits of men singing and sometimes in drag inserted in between trench life to show the bleak humour as recorded in the frontline paper which is difficult to translate to film. The constant referencing to Monty Python skits and also to the musical Carbaret is overpowering.

I really enjoyed the film. It's full of soldiers gripping (Troops don't complain do they? {sm4}), witty humour, and jabs against commanders and staff officers. If you're looking for a movie about cavalry charges or beach landings this isn't it, but if your looking for something that shows the soldiers' experince this is it.
Cheers,
Brendan
