Beau Geste is coming out with three new WWI sets - as usual, they are quite unique.

Carabinieri's Guards, Camel Corps, Summer Uniform, Palestine, 1917-18, WWI

Mounted Spahis, WWI
BG202.jpg

British Colonial troops, Africa, WWI

These are right up there with the best glossy figures I have ever seen. I especially love the British African Colonial Troops. If anything could lure me to buying non-K&C stuff, its Anna's people. First Honour Bound, and now this . . .

Picked up my first Beau Geste set of Napoleonics..........I love the looks of the Foriegn Legion troops from Mexico as well as others. Probably will not be my last piece. How about American Civil War Zouave marching sets or more Napoleonic marching troops ? Michael

Michael,

I love the Beau Geste figures! Did you actually purchase the Foreign Legion Troops from Mexico or are you simply admiring them? I own the figures and I highly recommend the set. They are very nicely done, well sculpted, richly painted, and they are clever. I am very pleased with them.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat, how big are the Beau Geste figures? Are they true 54 mm and would fit in with Imperial or Britains glossy? I think I remember someone saying they are bigger.

Pat, I picked up some Nappys that were discounted on ebay to start. I have saved their web page and have been creating a wish list. The Cameroon Legionaires are absolutely stunning per their photos ,but I am leaning toward the Guarde de Marines for my next choice as well as other Napoleonic marching sets.....Michael

Hi jrstseel,

I do not own any Imperial figures, so I cannot compare the Beau Geste figures with them. However, I have compared the Beau Geste figures with the glossy Britains Delhi Durbar line. The following are my conclusions:

1.) The Beau Geste figures have a larger, higher base than the Britains.

2.) The Beau Geste figures are slightly, but noticebly, taller than the Britains.

3.) The greater height of the Beau Geste figures is partially, but not wholly, due to the larger, higher base.

4.) The Beau Geste figures are noticebly thicker, bigger around, and heavier than the Britains.

5.) The colors of both makes of figures are bright and colorful.

6.) The painting on the Beau Geste figures is more detailed and stunning than on the Britains figures.

7.) When both Britains and Beau Geste figures are displayed together, you will see the size difference. Therefore, I display them on separate shelves.

8.) Both the Beau Geste Delhi Durbar figures and the Britains Delhi Durbar figures are of high quality. I am pleased to have both types of figures in my collection.

I will also hasten to add that my comparasions above only include Delhi Durbar figures. I hope my observations are helpful to you. Let me know if you have any questions regarding my comparasions.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I was just talking to Shannon because I just acquired some of the King and Country glossy Old Guard figures and would like to perhaps display them with some Beau Geste figures. She says that they're a little bigger than 54. In my case, she's going to bring a figure from a set I select and bring it to the Symposium to see if they're compatible with K & C which, I think, were, at that time, true 54s.

Pat thanks a lot for the detailed info. Very helpful. Beau Geste look really nice and I'm always planning to buy some but I was afraid they were really big, like 60mm. By your description it sounds like they would go fine with other lines of traditional soldiers. A little bigger but so what. I definitely want to get some of their Napoleonics.

I will have mine in a week and I will compare them to Trophy of Wales Nappys...Michael-

Boys - our figures are 54mm up to their eyes. That's why they probably look taller than the Britains. If they have their scale messured up to their heads, so we are about 3 mm taller.
