Have a look at some of the books by Shep Paine. His book on dioramas contains a lot of useful tips. The best way to start sculpting is to begin with simple conversions, head changes, repositioning arms and legs etc. This will help you to get a feel for it. Having mastered that to your satisfaction extend your ambitions and go for something more complicated, a sitting or kneeling figure. And so on until you are making major changes. But master each step first. Half the knack of sculpting is experience, and you can't buy that down at the model shop. The other half is using your eyes and watching how people stand and move. Remember you are not making toy soldiers, you are making little people, and in time of war the crowd of men you are observing standing at the bar would all be in uniform, and they are not all alike. Have fun. Alan
