I'm big on dog movies. This is good for family time. Not about a cute dog that does cute tricks
or a cute cherub little boy.

This film is set during WWII in the French Alps. Sebastian is a 6 year- old boy who lives with his adopted grandfather and his niece. Initially you see it when the men of the village go off in search of an animal that is killing sheep. They assume it's a dog that has gone feral and they are determined to kill it. Some Nazis involved while the resistant guide refugees into Switzerland . There is a sequel that I haven't watch yet. If nothing else great scenery of the remote part of the French Alps. More abundant wild life than I remember.

Here is the trailer for the sequel. OK, but I liked the first one better.
It had Nazis. Big hits with the kids. Played both three times.

This is a remake of an extremely popular French TV series of the 60's-70's (Belle et Sébastien). I used to watch it on my parents' first TV (black and white) back then...Looks like they have changed the scenario since I don't recall any nazis in it but just stories around the simple life in the French alps mountains...
