Hi guys,

if you are wanting to see a movie about a little known group of soldiers from World War One, go an see this movie when its comes your way.

BENEATH HILL 60 is an Australian War Movie set underneath the trenches of World War I culminating with the battle of Messines Ridge in Jube 1917. This never-before told Australian story is set in 1916 - where Queensland miner Oliver Woodward, under-trained and having never faced hostile fire before, finds himself on the Western Front, the bloodiest battlefield in history.

The scenes in the trenches of Flanders and amongst the best I have seen, and the clostraphobic tunnels set the scene for a most engrossing story.

Those of you who have seen other Aussie WW1 movies such as Gallipoli, The Lighthorsemen, Breaker Morant, know of the high standard that our movie makers have achived in the world market, and this is the next one.

It a MUST for all Ausies, and Kiwis, and there are very honorable mentions made about our Canadian allies, and the ususal slanging off against the English Officers (and well deserved too) but anyone interested in WW1 trench warfare will find this most engrossing.

The website is here, so have a look at the trailer and I'm sure you will be interested in seeing it.

By the way, I'm making a 'pilgimage' to the site when I visist Flanders in July this year.... as well as the Mennin Gate in Ypers and Frommeles in France the site of our latest war cemetery.

Enjoy...

John

This looks like a must see. Thanks for posting the info. Always on the lookout for good WW1 movies of any sort and this is a particularly interesting subject. The underground war is little known and a very important part of trench warfare. -- Al
