Just heard the news, very sad...……...he was a great baseball player, but an even better human being, he was roasted in this town because a stupid ****ing baseball went under his glove and through his legs in the 1986 World Series.

The poor guy was public enemy number one over such a childish, foolish thing. He was later welcomed back with open arms, he was gracious and he forgave the fans for such nonsense.

RIP Billy Buck...………………...

I remember him more from his Dodger days. He sported a killer stache back in the day.

RIP. He was a great player. To hear that someone I watched not that long ago (or so it seems) makes me feel old and consider my own mortality.

Keith Hernandez tweeted the following today:

I am so saddened to hear of Bill Buckner’s death at who had been suffering from dementia. 69 years is too young. I know from my mother who also suffered from dementia, that he is in a better place. Bill and I battled to the last day of the 1980 season for the batting title.
