I just watched James Cagney in "Captain of the Clouds", a so-so war time adventure film about Canadian bush pilots during WW2 time frame. The outstanding aspect of this color film is the appearance of Air Marshal William A. Bishop as himself at a pilot graduation ceremony. He has a good amount of screen time and a good speech as well as some good close-ups. His wartime awards (the VC ribbon in particular) are well displayed as he is in full uniform. Not the best of Cagney's film but worth the time to see Bishop, a true Canadian hero of WW1. -- lancer

If you are into WW1 aviation I heartily recommend going to The Shuttleworth Collection who have an outstanding collection of WW1 aircraft, some of which they actually fly on days when the weather is favourable. Fantastic sights and sounds.

I am very much into WW1 aviation. It was my first interest in the military world, as a kid. It still is. I have a couple of publications with Shuttleworth aircraft illustrated and would love to get there one day. In reference to Bishop, I just thought it was really fascinating to see a real WW1 ace on film some 24 years after the events of his service. I am not sure, of course, but it might be the only such example in film history. -- lancer
