Watching a 1971 episode of Hawaii 5-0 called "Is this anyway to run a paradise?" and about 15 minutes in there is a scene where a biplane crop-duster is shotdown by a bad guy. When the plane gets close to the ground the film clip is of a WW1 Pfalz D-3 fighter plane crashing that was taken from the film "The Blue Max". It's a short clip but the camo and German crosses are clearly visible. I wonder how Bruno Stachel ended up in Hawaii with Steve McGarrett? One of the more bizaare bloopers I have ever spotted.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Are you sure the title was "Is this anyway
to run a paradise" and not Hawaii 5-O meets Time Machine ?.....the most common of this type of blooper are the old WW11 war movies. that constantly show the wrong aircraft,,,ie....you start with a B17,,,it changes into a C47...and maybe a B25....the hero blissfully carrying out his mission ...un-beknown to him in 3 different aircraft....confusing ....regards TomB.

Might as well have been. It is such an odd error to make. I wonder how a clip from the Blue Max even came to be considered. There must be all sorts of light aircraft film clips available. Maybe, at that somewhat early 1971 date, there weren't many color clips to choose from? I still find it amazing that whoever was doing the editing could have picked that one short clip from a WW1 air war movie to fit into his police show.{sm3} -- Al

I missed the point....you are right...it is amazing how such a stand out aircraft, with black and white cross's....etc... could possibly be substituted for a Stearman bi-plane ....the Yanks know their Stearman aircraft very well..they have featured in a lot of their movies..two movie's I can think of where they played a part ....One with Garry Grant being chased by one and and another with Elliot Gould ......cannon hopping in the movie about the fake moon landing (WOW..some terrific flying )....forget the movie's name's but not the aircraft scene's......the guy who substituted the German aircraft had to be hollow between the ears...regards TomB

When I was a kid I was watching a pirate (I think?) movie. At one point the plot called for an attack on a castle. This was quite vigorous, except it was in black and white, (the rest of the movie was in colour) and it featured soldiers dressed for the Wars of the Roses or something similar. Pretty cheap...

Early 1900s cars parked in front of "1860s" Willard Hotel in Washington DC. Maybe The Blue and The Gray.

Napoleonic Royal Marines in stock shots of a sea battle showing up in a 1500s film.

It happens.
