I am sure that Britains collectors are familiar wih the black elastic ties (with metal clips on the ends) that were used to hold figures in their boxes during the late 1990's and early 2000's. Does anyone know if these ties are still available and can be purchased somewhere in the US?

Thanks,
Dick

If they aren't available I wonder if you could modify a typical ponytail holder because you just described one to a T--black elastic band with a crimped metal end. If they would work it would be an inexpensive and easily obtainable solution.

Hi, all,
I think I know which ones you mean, Shannon, the plain scrunchie type. I think they're thicker than the old bands Dick means. Those were similar to the elastic bands on Halloween masks, they weren't looped, but had a little metal bar at each end, to keep from being pulled through the card.

But the scrunchies do have another use--I use them to tie up the cords on electrical appliances, from my PC and all of its peripherals, to my large power tools, to my TV/VCR/DVD player and radios. I used to use bread bag ties, but these are much neater. And, it's not as hard to walk into a store and buy them as it is to buy other feminine products (don't make me say it...) ;)

Prost!

Brad -- I think your description of what I mean is more accurate than the one I gave. Do you know where they can be found?

Dick

These are the ones I'm talking about, only in black. Basic ponytail holders, not scrunchies. They also come in "ouchless" without the metal crimper. You can find them just about anywhere that sells beauty products like a drugstore, Wal-mart, Target, Dollar Store etc.

Hello!
I think you can find what you are looking for at www.hatsupply.com/notions.htm
It comes in black & white elastic and is called Mask Elastic w/Barb. It is 10" in length and is sold in 10 or 100 piece lots (10 pc.=$1.50 or 100pc.=$15.00).
I guess being a costumer for years can come in handy in this hobby!
Hope this helps,

Yo Troopers, know all about these ties they are called Treasury Tags, they come in different sizes, the Britains are 76mm and you can get them in any office supply stores, but very hard to get black ones. So I buys a box of 100 white ones, gets a cold black dye and dyes them, but must be something in the elastic make up they came out bottle green, which is quiet acceptable to me if you have them all the same say in a set of five.
You can also buy them on the web.
Bernard.

Bernard -- approximately how long is one of these "treasury tags?" (For us over here in the states, could you tell me in inches.

thanks.

Dick

Bernard -- I just did a "google" search of treasury tags, and every response that came up was in th UK. I have to figure out what they call them over here. I don't think its worth it to buy a few treasury tags and then pay for the shipping costs.

Dick

P.S. - do you know what type of fasterner they call it in the US?

Yo Dick mate dont buy any, I can give you the bottle green ones if you want, let me know how many you need, whats your fav saying "its only money" lol.
Bernard.
