A good entry here on the History Channel....

"For some reason, there is a channel known as The History Channel. Given its schedule, I can only conclude that the name is ironic in a postmodern sense. It certainly bears only a tangential relationship to something that I would recognise as ‘history’. ......"

Thanks & a Hatlo Hat Tip (ask your parents) for the blogs. I taught many histories over the span of 30+years and, if I wasn't up against students referencing the "newspapers" up by the cash registers, I was up against The History Channel (so-called). Often, I'd hear, "it must be true, because they had pictures and everything." Years ago, CBS gave purchased air time to some awful Biblical program that made us wonder who the buyer of the air time was. Turned out that it was the Moonies, but you had to read the incredibly small print to find that out.

Kind of you to put that one up from Jimmy Hatlo. Your original blog postings also reminded me of something that Arsenio Hall used to say on his show.........."the things that make you go 'hmmmmm'."
