I have been an avid toy soldier collector for ten years now. In that time I have had the pleasure of dealing with a wide variety of kind and professional people, I have particularly come to appreciate my local dealer who is a terrific guy and a pleasure to do business with. Recently I acquired several damaged pieces that I brought to an individual for repair who I met at a convention. Although the repairs were top quality the artisan in question had a terrible attitude. During the three week process he was not only difficult to deal with he also accused me of theft, dishonesty, and general malfeasance; all charges he later recanted when he reviewed our account ledger, and none of which he apologized for. Needless to say I was happy to have my pieces returned and to conclude my business dealings with him. I have always felt that professionalism is paramount to building successful relationships.

I will not forget this insult, I will have revenge!

If you ever need repairs done again, the person who does it for me is top notch, his rates are reasonable and is a very nice guy!

Quite right - Quite right,

It is a shame that such a pure and nostalgic hobby can be utterly castrated by the ubiquitous and underhanded practices of dastardly dealers. I'm sure such an attitude hurts his general business - it never made sense to me why individuals need to act that way in a professional relationship. I propose a collector's charter outlining respectful and fair business practices that will ultimately be governed by an elected body of wise and elder collectors called the "Council of Iron" I'll work on the structure of the document when I have time....^&grin

COLLECTOR LIBRE!!!!!

Although my original post was quite cheeky I do have a few K&C pieces in need of repair if I could use your guy.

Can you email me and let me know what you need fixed. Also, where in Jersey are you? I live in Chester, near Morristown.

Theft and dishonesty are one thing, general malfeasance is where I draw the line.

That's a shame. It is so frustrating to run into individuals with that kind of attitude.

I know how you feel. I attend several toy soldier and wargame shows every year. 99.9999% of dealers and people I meet are fantastic.
About 10 years ago I made some purchases from a dealer that had a really horrible attitude. Like he was doing me a favor. Needless to say I have never and will never purcahse anything from him again. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

That dealer having a bad attitude will only eventually incur in a loss of business through unhappy customers.
Hope your dealings turn out for the better !

I have only been in this hobby less than a year now. So far everyone I have talked to on the phone with My orders has just been great even with just questions about products. Our host and associatesare just fantastic to deal with it is always a pleasure. "Mr Colt45"
