2014 - Two well known ex Police Detectives walk into a storage unit with a Chinese student due to a drug deal. The student is murdered inside and both former cops blame the other. Another twist in the life and times of Det Sgt Roger Rogerson of the New South Wales anti Robbery Squad.

In 1997 I was on holiday in the UK and switched on the TV to come across a two part Australian TV series called Blue Murder (ABC 1995). Had never heard of Rogerson before and I had a hard time believing it was based on real events. It was actually banned in NSW when released.

Set in the 1970s and 1980s in Sydney, the miniseries concerns the relationship between controversial former Detective Roger "the Dodger" Rogerson and notorious criminal Arthur "Neddy" Smith. Rogerson and his colleagues were accused of giving Smith a "green light" to commit crimes without Police interference, with the relationship fraying when Rogerson orders hitman Christopher "Mr. Rent-a-Kill" Flannery to murder undercover Police Officer Michael Drury (anybody involved in law enforcement will get particularly upset at the hit on a cop in his family kitchen). The murder of prostitute Sallie-Anne Huckstepp also features.

Blue Murder is narrated by the characters of Rogerson, Smith and Drury and focuses on the corruption allegations that plagued the NSW Police Force at the time. Rogerson and Smith achieved a kind of celebrity status during the Wood Royal Commission into Police corruption.

Blue Murder: Killer Cop is a two-part Australian television miniseries based on true events, produced by the Seven Network and will premiere on 6 August 2017. It is a sequel to the miniseries Blue Murder which screened in 1995 on the ABC. Set in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s in Sydney, the miniseries continues the story of the life of former Detective Roger "the Dodger" Rogerson.
The series follows Roger Rogerson post blue murder, Shows how he meet his wife Anne and the murder of Jamie Gao that led to his arrest and murder conviction.

For any overseas who like cop shows I can recommend this one as Rogerson is a fascinating example of what happens when Detectives go bad. For Oz forum members it is on Channel 7 tonight.
