Bob Walker will be holding an open house to view his fabulous 7,000 figure collection on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A great BBQ restaurant will be catering lunch and there will also be a 12 member bagpipe band for entertainment. Free tables will be available for collectors and other vendors to sell their items just like at the cancelled West Coaster toy soldier show. So far, 12 tables have been reserved. Among the more than 40 scheduled to attend to date, are Ken and Erika Osen of W. Britain as well as famous W. Britain collector Ed Ruby who celebrated his 94th birthday earlier this month. If you plan to be in the Los Angles area on that date and would like to attend, please contact me at matara42@roadrunner.com. Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately I haven't yet won Lotto!! Even if I did win next week I wouldn't have enough time to organise a ticket. So please mark me as an apology.

Please give my regards, and those of the Brisbane Toy Soldier Association, to Ed Ruby. Ed is one of our very long standing "Overseas Honorary Members". (In fact, I believe that he is our most senior Honorary member!)

I know that you will all have a Great Day, I'll be thinking of you.

Best Regards,

Bob

Okay Guys,

I can't go since I'm living in Texas now.

However, any of you guys that live closer than me should go see Bob's place...

It will blow your mind!

Carlos

Thanks Carlos, it is even better (much better) than when you saw it the last time. As of today, the head count is 68 and 18 vendor tables.

I wish all the best for the event..and just by reading of the planned agenda, piper´s and list of attendees it is a sure bet success! {sm4}{sm4}
For those in the forum that are too far, if you can kindly share some pictures would be lovely!
Cheers

Thank you Luiz, we sure hope so and plan to make it an annual event if the West Coaster doesn't make a comeback. I promise to take some photos and share them.

Mike

Just a quick update: The headcount is now up to 75, including Bill Hocker, plus a couple of maybes. 18 tables have been reserved.

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day with a high temperature of 78 degrees. The first photos are just a small sample of Bob's lovely garden where the event took place.

BTW, the last photo in the previous post shows my wife Jean who was a good sport to attend this event with me although she couldn't care less about toy soldiers. Thank you dear.

More photos of attendees, the eating area tent, and getting the serving line ready with BBQ tri-tip, chicken, beans, corn, and salad on the menu.

I thought I would go back and identify as many attendees as I could.

First photo: Most have their backs to the camera, but from right to left are Bob Phillips, retired Orange County homicide watch commander; Jim Baratta, attorney for Hollywood movie studios; Bob Walker, event host and President of Walker Foods; Ed Ruby, famous W Britains collector; Ken Osen, W Britain managing director; Woody Lambeth, West Coaster; and Steven Chong, attorney.

Second photo: Rod and RJ Galanti, collectors and war gamers.

Third photo: Erika Osen, W Britain and Fred Stecker, collector.

Fourth photo: Jean, my wife of 52 years and Gus Ramos, collector.
