Bob Walker held his 6th annual Open House this weekend on November 3rd and 4th. I have not attempted to duplicate the photos I took a year ago at the 5th Annual Open House, but rather focus in on some details that were not covered last year. Hopefully, there are not any duplicates, but Bob is constantly adding to and rearranging his collection, so I may not have totalling succeeded in that regard.

On Saturday, there were about two dozen attendees. I am not sure about Sunday's head count, since my wife and I left about one hour after he openned up. The first photo shows Bob with Richard Walker (no relation), General Manager of W. Britain, in the French Room. The second photo is of Gary Fournier in the Medieval Room, who is a model maker for TSSD and others. BTW, Gary is a Viet Nam War veteran who serve in the 1st Marines Force Reconn during the war. He was a tunnel rat who would go into Viet Cong tunnels with a hand gun and who conducted clandestine forrays into North Viet Nam. I salute this brave man. The third photo is collector Alan Green, in the Dinning Room, who is from Southern California and is an attorney with the Riverside District Attorney's Office. The fourth photo is Bob talking to Ed Fongonilo of Edmund's Toy Soldiers in the Sun Room. The fifth photo is a better picture of Ed.

Just a few more photos of some of the attendees before I post photos of Bob's collection. The first photo is Ed and me. The second photo is of my wife of 45 years, Jean, who patiently waited for me for eight hours, mainly in the Sun Room, on Saturday. The third and fourth photos include Bob, Alan, and Doug Luna, among others. Saturday night, Jean and I joined Bob, Richard Walker, Mike & Mischa Hall of Sierra Toy Soldiers, Mike (the kilted vampire), and George, Bob's neighbor, for dinner in Los Gatos at a brew pub. All and all, it was a great toy soldier day.

These are a bunch of disjointed photos taken as I walked around from the Dinning Room to the Diorama Room looking at Bob's collection. In other words, I am not going back and trying to organize them by room or subject matter, but rather show them as I took them.

Some of the interesting helmets, headgear, guns, and airplanes in the Diorama Room. Large troop formations.

Lucotte Napoleonics, St George's Cross Russian Civil War White Russians & Reds, Bob's WWI Montenegrins, and Poles.

Truly Amazing to see a collection like this! Looking forward to more photos.

Dave

Once again - an absolutely astonishing series of pictures of a simply amazing collection. Many thanks to Bob (and Mike for the photographs), and for the opportunity to share in this visual feast of a spectacle. Given me loads of ideas for a few more Knights!!!:D Johnnybach

Thanks Dave and JB. Even after having attended five of Bob's six open houses, I still am seeing stuff that I missed before. It is like the forrest is so large that it is sometimes difficult to see the individual trees. More photos to follow.

Poles (?), Bob's own WWII Slovak Infantry, White Russians,, Dan Boline (?) WWI ambulance, and USS Liberty. Britain's Richard Walker immediately picked up on the Slovaks as an unusual, rarely seen subject matter. Bob, Richard, and I are all esoteric collectors at heart.

On the first post, I have a photo of Gary Fournier. Here is a better photo of Gary which I should have used rather than the one I did. He also would have rather I had not mentioned his military service, given the reserved man he is, but I still salute him and thank him for his service to our country. Semper Fidelis, Gary.

Continuing. I especially like the Persians. I don't believe I have ever seen them anywhere else before. The last photo is Lucotte Napoleonic cavalry.

Thanks for posting all the pictures. It is great fun to view this fantastic collection. So much to see and appreciate. -- Al

Hi Al,

Thank you. It is great fun to view his collection. I am even enjoying looking at the photos although I just saw it in person a week ago.

Lucotte Napoleonics. Alan and Ed in the diorama room. Al: I hope these are the close-ups you asked to see last year of the WWI bomber.
