"The killed included Colonel Halkett, Captains C. Tatton and H. Bromley, Captain-Lieutenant R. Gethin and Lieutenants J. Halkett, J. Allen and R. Townsend, of the 44th. The losses of the rank and file may be gauged by the return of Colonel Halkett's company, which had only 18 survivors out of a total of 69."

Does anyone know where this reference is derived from, especially the company return of 18 out of 69 following the Battle? I can't seem to track this down, any help or link appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the Reference, will add it to my folder, but in a quick read of the link, I did not see the information I was looking for. In the Paladin Video The Forest Ran Red, they mention 61 of 69 grendadier being killed or wounded (assuming the grenadier company from was either the 44th or 48th), but I can't track down this source either, likely the same source. But what is it?

If you look at the Osprey Quebec Book, there are 2 distinct references to the red facings. One reference is under the flag caption for the 47th and one reference is in a double page illustration that contains a "poem".

The poem contains a clear reference to the red facings (Montcalm is mentioned in the poem as misidentifying the 47th because of the facing change), so I am leading hard towards accepting the red facings...

The Osprey Quebec books indicates the 47th normally wore white, but for some reason during the Quebec campaign they wore the uniforms of the Shirley's disbanded 50th. Not sure what the back story is on that one. If so, it's easy to understand how John made that mistake.

I couldn't find anything in The Journal of Captain Robert Cholmley's Batman, or Halkett's Orderly Book. Maybe this will narrow your search atleast.
