Joining the Navy- the British Royal Navy I believe.
-Sandor
When young, Napoleon had an interest in a naval career. As a boy, he wanted to join the Royal Navy as a naval cadet. His father wrote to the Royal Navy to ask if his son Napoleon could join, but there was no reply. Later, his family tried to enrol him in the French Naval Academy, but this failed when his patron died unexpectedly. Instead, he went to the École militaire and become an artillery officer.
Best, Raymond.
Napoléon attempted but failed to join the expedition of Jean-François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse.
Good one!
