Good subject! G.I.'s giving candy to liberated children is always a nice{sm4}.
 
Nice vignette! My parents who were kids during WW2 still remember getting chewing-gum from the GIs in Tours (France). Chewing-gum was something very exotic and typically American for French people back then.
 
The boys and girls in Belgium where a bit more greedy and asked the GIs for " Chocolate for mommy, cigarettes for daddy"
they also introduced "coca-cola !!!!"
