King Prasutagus of the Iceni was dead. In his will he had left part to his family and part to Rome in the hope that by doing so his family would not want and Rome would be satisfied with their share. Alas no, Rome was insatiable and her officials corrupt.
So when the tax collectors came escorted by a detachment of the Ninth Legion, they took all there was to be had, including Queen Boudicca's daughters and the Queen flogged.
Perhaps the Legionarys ever open to superstition and rumour believed themselves to be cursed from that day. Outraged and swearing vengeance Boudicca roused her people and with allied tribes swept all before them, burning, pillaging and killing all who fell before them.
Eventually the Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paullinus who had been leading a campaign in North Wales to wipe out the Druids returned and a battle ensued in which the native people were defeated and destroyed. Rome took her revenge.

I'll leave it to you guys with the numbers to handle the battles

Romans by TG. Boudicca by Del Prado (Hair painted Red as reports state she had Reddish hair.), Roundhouse, Amphora etc by J G Miniatures.

It seems all roads lead to Rome. Inspiring dio presented here. Robin.

Thanks Robin. Yes all things Roman seem to be in favour at present maybe not so surprising since it covered such a long period and area plus it's really colourful just like Napoleonics !
