I have a dissatisfaction with the colour of Toy soldier manufacturers and - especially Osprey - giving figures
represent soldiers of the East Asia Brigade during the Boxer Rebelion.
Almost all manufacuturers take grey litewkas an light grey trousers with a grey felt hat.

No member of the german troops had such an uniform in 1900.

The brigade march to China in a "khaki drell" - uniform for summer with a straw hat or blue litewkas an black-grey trousers. Only jagers and cavalry wore grey litewkas, but not in the field-grey of 1914 - which was a bit greenish.
Beautiful representations one can find under http://www.germancolonialuniforms.co.uk/

Thank you for an interesting article....the history of the German Colonies is something I only had a very vague idea of....cheers TomB
