Does anyone think Britains will ever do a glossy boxer rebellion range with buildings and everything else thats goes with it. Absolutely love this period its got everything, colourful uniforms lots of different nations involved and plenty of eastern mystic. I know they seem to be fixed on making matte figures and very nice they are. But its only glossies for me

This would be a great series that I know I would collect. So perhaps we should make some noise and ask the good folks at Britains to consider it again.

Dave

They have made some nice glossy figures lately. I wish they would do more poses. A boxer rebellion range in gloss wow!!!!! That would get people buying. How about all those trophy guys that just can't find any of the old stuff. I am sure they would love the range

Trophy boxer rebellion figures are like gold dust so I missed the boat on that one, just check out the prices they are reaching on E bay. Well out of my price range im afraid. I think there would be a big demand for this range with plenty of scope for a wide range of figures if one of the big boys would produce them. At the moment I am buying the regal range, soldiers of the world. I would highly recommend them, Beautifully painted and reasonably priced at about 100 Euro a set including postage from New Zealand, Expecting a set of boxers from them any day now. Going to the toy soldier show in London next saturday so I will have a look around for a few scenic pieces that might blend in for this range. Managed to pick a wooden bridge with some trees in my local garden centre the other day for just 30 Euro. Slightly smaller than 54mm scale but a good buy as it has an oriental style look about it. Think that Britains would do this period brilliantly

Hi Redcap,

I completely agree, Britains would do this period brilliantly. And, I would collect it. I was able to purchase some of the Trophy Boxer Rebellion sets before Trophy discontinued production, but I did not buy nearly enough of them.

While I hope Britains produces a Boxer Rebellion line, I am becoming quite attracted to the new William Hocker Boxer Rebellion line. If you have not looked at these figures, you might want to do so while we wait to see if Britains will decide to produce Boxer Rebellion figures.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

HI PAt - I too think BOXER would be great. I have aksed Andy a dozen times. I just ordered many of Bill Hocker's sets he previewed in Chicago. I am looking forward to them.

Let's go Britians! Greg

Checked out the Hocker range{sm3} I would so like the Empress Dowager set. I will definately keep an eye out for them at the show on saturday. Regards Peter

I would second the SoW figures. Every bit as colorful and well made as Trophy. They have a gorgeous, high gloss finish. -- Al

Hi Greg!

I am glad to learn you have ordered some of the Hocker Boxer Rebellion figures. I am sorely tempted to do so as I would also be with a Britains line.

I would enjoy seeing your new Hocker figures after you receive them. Perhaps you could post some photos at that time.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi everyone. This thread has got me thinking too. It would be a nice subject area for castings versions of participants - but I don't know of anyone who does specific castings for this small war (1898-1901). I do know of one or two makers of unpainted castings that might be pressed into service for the Western powers who took part - but not anyone who makes the Chinese side.

Anyone know of anyone who makes ( or made in the past) any Boxer Rebellion figures supplied as castings? johnnybach

Having had a quick look around the Internet - perhaps I had better be a bit more specific, as there are a couple of PLASTIC makers around - who do some very nice soft plastic figures of The Boxer rebellion figures (and some Artillery). What I meant was 54mm METAL CASTINGS.

Red Box ( Russia) do a very good series of plastic figures in 1/72 scale ( so quite small) - with most of the participants in a good range of boxes. Even better, in my view - as they are 1/32 scale - are the "Armies in Plastic" range - which has twelve boxes of various figures of some of the main participants - with an Artillery piece and Gatling Gun (with appropriate figures for both).

Nothing wrong with those two - but for the fact that they are in a soft plastic - which I don't really find holds paint all that well - in the long term. jb

So.............still looking for a Metal Casting maker???^&grin jb

Off the top of my head I can think of only Irregular miniatures who have a very small range of boxer rebellion castings. If you like this period check out Regal I received a set of their boxers today great figures. I was at the toy soldier show in London on saturday and britains seem to be concentrating on matte figures at the moment. I managed to pick some older britains glossy victorian civilians at a bargain price which was great. One stall had hundreds of older britains at around 5 pounds a figure with a real good variety

Cheers for thinking about it - but Irregular Mins don't make boxer Rebellion castings in 54mm - and Regal don't do castings at all - just painted.

Dorset Soldiers do Western Soldiers castings of that period - that could be painted to make up some of the Allied Western Forces involved. What I was (idly)wondering was - are there any suppliers of castings in 54mm about for the Chinese forces involved? jb
