This is a little off the usual topics here, but I am a huge boxing fan and check out the results of fights from all over the world on a dialy basis. There is a boxer from Birmingham England who has caught my attention, his named is Peter Buckley. What has peeked my interest in him is his record, he has 31 wins, 248 loses and 11 draws. Rather an unusual record I'd say. Just wondering if any of our English visitors to this site have ever seen him fight and know how he's lost 248 fights and is still breathing.

I just looked up his record,my god!!!.How is he still boxing????.It says he is his own manager, you would have thought with that many losses he would have given it up long ago?.Still all credit to him,he must love the game so good luck to him i say.

I guess you could call him a bit of a journeyman. Are all those fights 12 rounders? Is he still fighting? How does he have a license still?

Mostly 6 rounders, he fought last night and lost another 6 round decision. As a side note of those 248 loses he has only been stopped 10 times. He has lost 12 decisions in 2007. His last win was 10/20/2003. Nothing like a four year losing streak to pad your ego.

Wow, thats a boxing tragedy. Like boxing isnt a tough enough way to make a living. Having over 200 losses must make it really hard. Why would you keep on fighting at that point? He must have really good defense or a head like a cement block.

Yeah that's what I was wondering, I was hoping someone in here had seen him fight and could fill in the details. Most guys with bad records come in at the last moment and lie down at the first opportunity, this guy usually lasts the distance.

I used to get ringside seats at some fights and talked to one of the late subs after his fight. He got the call on Friday for a fight on Sunday against a world ranked fighter. They were willing to pay him 8k, the most he had ever made for a fight, he admitted he wasn't in training and had no sparring for the fight, so he let it all hang out for the first round and looked for a soft spot to fall after that. The knockout punch was a left hook to the body that he blocked with his elbow, although when we asked him about it, he said he only partially blocked it. Outside of that little white lie he was amazingly candid. After hearing his story we didn't blame him and infact bought him a beer.

Interesting facts about our Mr Buckley, he has fought 10 former or current world champions. He has the most losses of any boxer in the history of British boxing. He ranks second in all time ring losses. He is still active. Wikipedia actually has a page for him.
