I had the opportunity to meet and have a long chat with John Jenkins at the Toy Soldier Museum. A very gracious and nice guy. Can't say enough about his taking to the time to chat. He also unveiled the upcoming Braddock set! Just a few highlights:

1) Braddock comes as a mounted figure - horse rearing and Braddock w/sword in hand exhorting on the troops at the height of the battle. Perhaps a few moments before his mortal wound. Also two kneeling figures - one is a drummer. JJ indicated how gratifying it was to see this line through to the end. The Braddock figure perhaps not being the last of the Monongahela line, but close. Probably a wagon and limber - maybe a few more sets, but it sounds as though this line could be ending shortly. The Braddock set is scheduled for pre-xmas release. The owner of the toy soldier museum was taking photos - so hopefully he will post some on his website.

2) The Whaleboat. This is everything it was cracked up to be. Even non-JJ collectors should take a look at this piece. A real treasure. JJ confirmed it is limited to 350 with figures and then the boat itself will also be available without the figures. Also, it sounds likely there will be another boat down the line perhaps with a mast. Should be shipping in a couple of weeks.

3) Indian village and Ranger camp. These sound like real possibilities.

4) Battle on Snowshoes. Sounds as though it could be done by Sept (if I recall correctly). Langy will be released toward the end as there are apparently few images of him and JJ wants to make sure to get it just right.

5) Quebec. A lot of new figures should be on the way once the other lines phase out. Look for more French. JJ indicated some of the latest French figures were his fastest sellers thus far.

6) Jacobites. Great dynamic poses and colors. Anyone on the fence will be pleased.

That's about all I can recall. Once again great to meet John and thanks to the Toy Soldier Museum for the event.

Cool, thanks for the updates, so...Braddock will be part of a 3 figure set then? That would be really tempting for me. Hope you had a great time at the event.

In a way I'm glad that the Braddock series is coming to an end - with so many new and great items reducing the ranges does help. But, it has been a great range and I really have enjoyed collecting it.

I am ready for that boat !

Thanks for posting the highlights of your conversation with John.

I am sorry to hear that the Braddock series is coming to end. It is great to wait for new releases to this series.

Cheers,
Benjamin

Combat, thanks for the great update. I was thinking about going but this upcoming weekend is the HMGS war gaming convention in Gettysburg and I wanted to limit my traveling. I am also glad to see that the Monongahela series is coming to an end. With the POA releases starting to pick up it’s becoming very difficult to keep up. The wagon or limber Idea sounds very interesting.

Thanks for the latest JJD news. I am especially interested in the Quebec series news, though the whaleboat & Jacobite items tug at me, also.:):):D

Yes, it comes as a three figure set - two kneeling figures and Braddock. Four total pieces including Braddock's horse. There is a fantastic JJ Monongahela diorama at the Toy Soldier Museum. Hopefully, they post some pictures on their website. JJ mentioned another great set idea for this series, but I don't want to give it away on the forum.

John also had a very early sculpt that will be a three Indian set for the BOS line. Two Indians dragging off a wounded comrade by each hand. Plenty of great stuff in the works.

So this sounds like a great set. Now....does anybody have a photo of this item to share with us? Hmmmmmmm?

The only person taking pictures was James Hillestad who operates the toy soldier museum. I still don't see any on his website. Maybe if someone knows him well enough they could ask him to pass along some for posting here.

Two additional tidbits. The whaleboats are going like hotcakes. Not surprised if they are sold out upon release. And that means sold out from the dealers. Second, John indicated his favorite release was BM-06 the wounded Grenadiers set.

At last I've found a photo of this set. :)

Looks pretty nice to me.
