I had the opportunity to meet and have a long chat with John Jenkins at the Toy Soldier Museum. A very gracious and nice guy. Can't say enough about his taking to the time to chat. He also unveiled the upcoming Braddock set! Just a few highlights:
1) Braddock comes as a mounted figure - horse rearing and Braddock w/sword in hand exhorting on the troops at the height of the battle. Perhaps a few moments before his mortal wound. Also two kneeling figures - one is a drummer. JJ indicated how gratifying it was to see this line through to the end. The Braddock figure perhaps not being the last of the Monongahela line, but close. Probably a wagon and limber - maybe a few more sets, but it sounds as though this line could be ending shortly. The Braddock set is scheduled for pre-xmas release. The owner of the toy soldier museum was taking photos - so hopefully he will post some on his website.
2) The Whaleboat. This is everything it was cracked up to be. Even non-JJ collectors should take a look at this piece. A real treasure. JJ confirmed it is limited to 350 with figures and then the boat itself will also be available without the figures. Also, it sounds likely there will be another boat down the line perhaps with a mast. Should be shipping in a couple of weeks.
3) Indian village and Ranger camp. These sound like real possibilities.
4) Battle on Snowshoes. Sounds as though it could be done by Sept (if I recall correctly). Langy will be released toward the end as there are apparently few images of him and JJ wants to make sure to get it just right.
5) Quebec. A lot of new figures should be on the way once the other lines phase out. Look for more French. JJ indicated some of the latest French figures were his fastest sellers thus far.
6) Jacobites. Great dynamic poses and colors. Anyone on the fence will be pleased.
That's about all I can recall. Once again great to meet John and thanks to the Toy Soldier Museum for the event.
