Dear Treefroggers;

I want to open a thread wherein you will find all my Napoleonic dios. I have heard the rumour that new French Cavalry is on their way. As introduction I will do something around the retired 7th French curassiers.
What's the plot?
Chef d'escadron Count Carel van Hogendorp is entering with his squadron the woods of Quatre Bras. He encourages his lads: "En avant, Messieurs!"

DSC_cur1.JPG

But after some cautious steps, a shot was cracking and one of his men was down!

DSC_cur2.JPG

Lt von Eppen (KGL) is watching the whole scene...

DSC_Kgl1.JPG

Another shot goes off....

DSC_Kgl2.JPG

There goes the second victim

DSC_cur3.JPG...

And a real firefighting started in the woods.
What will happen?
Come and see next episode!

Thanks for supporting my thread with the famous "like" comment.

In the first episode we saw the start of a firefight between KGL and the French curassiers. The skirmish is going on....

DSC_Kgl3.JPG

A guard company was heading for he noice, hoping to have some fun but the lads had not expected to counter heavy cavalry...the result was disastrous

DSC_cur4.JPG

Only one rider could be captured

DSC_cur5.JPG

Hastly the Highlanders were brought in defence behind the wood

DSC_High1.JPG

But also on the French side there was some panic when an "aide de camp" was warning the general staff about the heavy ambush.

DSC_Nap1.JPG

Nappy himself was in the mood for the bigger work. He looked at the maps and informed where his red lancers might be...
Don't miss episode 3!

Very realistic looking photos Eddy. Looks like you used natural light for the pics as they came out quite well ! :salute::

Epsode 3: The attack of the Red Lancers

Napoleon grumbled to his Aide-de-Camps, Vicomte Maurice de Nieverans: "Find Chabanais and tell him with my compliments to search our "Big brothers" of the 7th Regiment of the Curassiers in the woods."

DSC_Nap2.JPG

Chabanais was better known as Comte Edouard de Colbert-Chabanais, the general of the Red Lancers. In the early days the Emperor used to be very familiar with the Count but the hesitation of Colbert for more then 3 days to join the new army of his former Emperor, has degraded his friend to just "Chabanais". But not in rank: in spite of his deloyal hesitation, he received the command of the Red Lancers as there was no doubt about the bravoury of Monsieur Chabanais!

DSC_Rolans1.JPG

Colbert assembled at once his first squadron and some scouts were riding a few minutes later ahead to search the unfortunated 7th Curassiers.

DSC_Rolans2.JPG

Once in the woods the first squad could hear the battle cries.

DSC_Rolans3.JPG

The first ennemy that was encountered, were some dispersed Guardsmen. The cavaliers charged without any hesitation

DSC_Rolans4.JPG

The guardsmen were no match for the deadly lances

DSC_Rolans5.JPG

The wood was strewn with bodies

DSC_Rolans6.JPG

Private Jones knew that he had fought his last battle...

DSC_Rolans7.JPG

He was crawling to his buddy Patrick, but his best friend was already in another world.

DSC_Rolans8.JPG

How will our Duke react on the slaughter of all these fine men?^&confuse

Episode 4: The Black Watch counters the charge.

Indeed the few guards were no match for the red lancers. They continued their way in the woods, searching for the last guardsmen.

DSC_Rolan13.JPG

The complete annihilation could be avoided by the ferocious intervention of the Black Watch. The lads knew that they couldn't stop the charge but costly time was saved for the duke his secret weapon.
There was the second charge for the lancers...

DSC_Rolan10.JPG

The first engagement was on the drummer. The sergeant protected the boy with his pike

DSC_Rolan11.JPG

Reinfoercements on both sides came in. Private Mc Neil was stabbed in his throat.

DSC_Rolan12.JPG

There was the secret weapon: the Royal Horse Artillery:eek:

DSC_brart1.JPG

Hastly the pieces were brought in position.

DSC_brart2.JPG

But not every shot was lucky! Sometimes brandnew guns were vulnerable for self explosion:redface2:

DSC_brart3.JPG

Could the RHA stop the raid?
Come ande see.....

Episode 5: Could the RHA stop the raid?^&confuse

Capt. Oliver Blindeye is spotting the target; A frontline of 12 lancers is storming to the guns.
"Easy boys; load and aim on these fancy dandies!"

RHA.1.JPG

It was a nice shot, no more guns exploded!

RHA.2.JPG

The real secret waepon camr from these men: ... rockets!

RHA.3.JPG

Perhaps not very efficient to make casualties, but almost every charge could be stopped by terrifying the horses with those glittering smoking tubes...

RHA.4.JPG

A team of 3 rocketeers could cause a stampede amongst the foe!:p

RHA.5.JPG

After 30 minutes of smoke and big confusion, the brave rocketeers could stop further harassements: the glorious light cavalry of the imperial guard was dispersed into the woods.

RHA.6.JPG

Guns were limbered. Just in time for a nice cup of thea (or something stronger) in the local pub.

RHA.7.JPG

End of this story.
