G'Day Britains and all the great collectors out there from all us collectors in Australia.

I too wait with great anticipation for the new 06 figures and hope that Britains will bring out new British military figures covering British and Commonwealth at war 1900 - 2000.

As Britains seems to have gone very American centric, don't forget about us Aussies, Brits, Kiwis etc that kept Britains going since day one. British oriented figures are just as much needed and required for our collections down under.

I hope Britains brings out Australian Infantry WW1 & WW2, Royal Marines, British Infantry and NZ Infantry in both ceremonial and action poses allowing us Brit Commonwealth guys to have out fun too.

God save the Queen and God bless America,

See ya

Hi All,

I will echo the opinion of Antony, I would also love to see some more Commonwealth Figures especially the Kiwi's. Even though I am an American I collect primarily the Commonwealth or Colonial Forces especially from the Raj. I think the folks at Britains do indeed need to address this issue and hope the Richard will see that there is a need to fill some of these gaps.

I would also love to see some WWI Tank Corps figures and vehicles like a Mark IV male and female versions and a Mark 1a Whippet. We seem to spend a lot of time with the WWII equipment and figures but not too much on WWI so I will be very happy to see these types of figures and equipment.

Happy Collecting all!

I totally agree with this opinion. Britains has become too America focused. The Americana stuff is boring. I'm an American veteran but I have to admit that the US has had the dullest looking uniforms throughout history. I love the British uniforms. I know they have to do the Civil War and WW2 but leave out the Alamo and that kind of stuff. I do know Britains is coming out with a series, History of the British Army, so that's good.

Hi Guys,

For all of the Britains fans out there this will seem a bit off the topic but another company posed to me that British/ Commonwealth or Colonial Sets of vehicles and figures dont sell as well in the US. Would you agree or disagree with this statement. I tend to think its not an accurate statement for the current collectors market. Please let me know what you think.

G'Day Dave,

Interesting question and my feelings/response is:

Britains were purchased by the Americans from the Brits so obviously an "American" focus was going to become more dominant than British. I guess this was a business decision by the company and not a collecting focused decision.

Also, Obviously in USA, USA themes are going to be very relevant whereas us Brits/Aust really are not interested in many of the USA themes and obviously reverse applies with Brit themes in Brit and Commonwealth.

If equal sets were put up (i.e same amount of US theme and Brit theme) would they both sell equally in opposite countries. Maybe not and the sets would be mainly brought by the country of the theme (if that makes sense).

Not rocket science stuff I know, however, interesting to speculate on what would sell where and themes etc.

Happy collecting

Some good ideas and great points. Australia and Canada are on the radar with W. Britain. The advantage to Commonwealth figures is that they tend to find interest in the UK, the Commonwealth country and even in the US - with America's proximity to Canada and the US interest in Australia in particular.

Commonwealth figures from 1812, WWI, WWII are all of interest with plans for 2006/2007 underway. And I agree, American uniforms can get mundane at times - good to mix it up and keep a variety of uniforms, periods, nationalities etc. out there to keep the hobby interesting and vibrant.

Ideas for favorites gladly accepted!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the honest assessment of the question I put forth. I still feel that the collectors out there will purchase vehicles or sets of soldiers from a good mixed range with relish! I personally have a very extensive collection of nearly all British or Commonwealth types of soldiers. I used to have a ton of models and of course plastic soldiers from the Civil War and the WWII range when I was a kid in the 70's. But my real favorites from that era are the soldiers from Britians that I still have. Now my focus recently has been the Durbar Parade Series done by Britains, Marlborogh and Beau Geste. I will be working on these sets for a long time especially since I dont have all of the Britians sets yet (I am short maybe 4 sets from the Britains display) and have made a real dent in the Marlborough sets on the secondary market in the past year so I will be busy with this one for a lot of years. But I mainly got into it because it was so colorful and so diverse a far cry from the drab sets of WWII. Anyway I am going to continue to call for the Commonwealth sets and vehicles until someone makes them...

Have a great day.

Dave
