To supplement my Britains Light Brigade sets, I had a standard bearer and a trumpeter made for each of the 5 regiments of the Light Brigade. The following photos are illustrative of what the completed figures look like:

Those are very nicely done. Love all the extra added detail. When Bernard see these, he's going to be a knocking at your door LOL :D:D:D

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hi Dick,

Who did these for you? They are excellent and would be great to have in my display too. So Bernard will have to take a number and cue up behind me!

All the best

Dave

Dick, very nice too!.......don't give Bernard any ideas please :rolleyes:

Btw, your bed sheets could do with an iron :p:D

Jeff

Thanks -- I wish my bed sheets were this nice and neat -- this is just an old rag I used to block out the background.

Unfortunately, Bernard already knows who did them for me. But I will send you a pm with the information.

HO HO HO. So you excuses for soldiers thought Lord Cardigan didn't know what went down in the Life Brigade department Gads Sir it was my Light Brigade nothing gets by me HUMBUG lol. The only thing Dick, think (trooper) will be on your case about this, I could be wrong BUT I don't think the Cavalry had Standard Bearers in battle, think they just used their Pennants.
Lord Cardigan.:D

Well Bernard -- if you watch Errol Flynn's version of the Charge -- they did have standard bearers -- and they had them for each regiment. And, I'm sure as heck not going to quarrel with Mr. Flynn and Warner Brothers.

This was a good movie, far from being historically accurate but good entertainment.Sad sidebar is that many horses were killed or injured. It was so bad that Mr. Flynn himself reported it to the SPCA.

Sadly the figures are totaly inaccurate historicaly. British light cavalry did not carry standards or guidons at all at this time, only the heavy cavalry. And the heavies didn't carry them in the Crimea. The light cavalry carried their battle honours on their drum banners and did not receive permission to carry guidons until 1956. The Union Flag carried in the Errol Flynn film and slavishly copied by K&C is eye wincingly wrong. Quite apart from not being carried, as a regimental colour the Union Flag was never used by cavalry as a design, and it is the size of an infantry colour, heavy cavalry standards were much smaller. I would respectfully submit that Hollywood is not the most accurate source for uniform or historical research, and anyone who wants to make a true representation of a unit or event should look elsewhere. As they say in the X Files, the truth is out there.

Sad indeed and the reason I do not care to watch it. Much better to watch the Light Horseman where appropriate protections were in place.
