Hello All,
There is a W.Britain event in Chillicothe, Ohio this Saturday, November 17th. The History Store is hosting Ken Osen of W.Britain / Hudson & Allen Studio. Ken will be doing a Behind-the-Scenes look at how he sculpts a figure and a great sneak peak of upcoming Britians releases. Hudson & Allen will also have a few new Dioramas, buildings and other accessories available at the event.
If you have never been to The History Store (99 North Paint Street Chillicothe, Ohio 45601 - Phone 740-775-7400) it is worth the trip. They carry a wide variety of toy soldiers (including a large supply of rare and earlier pieces), books, diorama supplies and other history related goods. The History Store is also attached to an Art Gallery that carries a wide variety of historical themed art & prints and to Ivy’s Boutique that carries a variety of home-goods and ladies accessories. There is something for everyone in Chillicothe.
Chillicothe was the original capital of Ohio and retains a lot of its early architecture. Along with the History Store, it is worth visiting the Ross County Historical Museum (they have a great collection on display and a new 1812 exhibit) and Adena Mansion. Adena, completed in 1806-1807, is one of only three houses designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe still standing in the country. Latrobe is considered the first professional American architect and served as architect of the U.S.Capitol under President Thomas Jefferson.
