During the post war period, Britains produced a band for each of the five Guards (Coldstream, Scots, Welsh, Irish and Grenadier.) One of my favorites is the 25 piece band Britains made for the Grenadier Guards.

Nice boxed set of the Britain's band. I have no old band sets. You and Pat have some nice old sets. Leadmen

Mint, originally tied bands come up for sale every so often. Llately, in the last few years, they have usually only come up for sale at auction, like Vectis or Morphy or Weiss. Unfortunately, when you acquire them through the auction houses, you have to pay a premium for them.

I read in Hardin's Old Toy Soldier magazine that they were going to do auctions. I wonder if their auctions are any better? Leadmen

I have known Ray Haradin for about 17 years. His sets are always amongst the best in terms of quality. But as you probably know, his prices are usually amongst the highest. But as the old saying goes -- you get what you pay for. And, even though his stuff may be expensive, it is always of the highest quality.

Of the 5 Guard Bands, Britains made post war, three were larger sets of 20 plus figures. Two, the Irish and the Welsh bands were smaller being comprised of only 12 pieces. The Welsh Guard band was "drums & Fifes."

Yo Trooper Dick, just looking back through the old threads at some of your superb sets. As you know lost my Old Mum a few weeks back, and that was her favourite saying's since I was a kid. "You gets what you pay for" & "The dearest is the cheapest in the long run". She was always right God Bless her.
Bernard.

Yo Dick, nice but would look better over here lol. My Old Dad was in the Irish Guards, and he was as proud as a peacock because he was Prince John Of Luxenburgh's batman, got a telegram somewhere here my Dad got off Prince John when he got married. It was my dads claim to fame God bless him.
Bernard.

Bands are kind of cool. Thanks for showing your Bands. I just started casting some new ones for myself.
