Britains Hussars (1 Viewer)

Actually - here's a sample of some more British Cavalry pieces I will be reviving at some point in the future.

This is what I normally do to pieces I have bought - frequently with damage or missing bits. I like to get them to be able to stand up first - and usually give them a base at the same time ( for stability). Then I can better assess what I'm going to do with them. Here's a couple of pics below which are from three old manufacturers.

Front row are Britains - centre row are JoHillco, which look remarkably like Britains! - and the rearmost row of four are Hanks copies of Britains.

These last four Hanks figures, I intend to make up as Household Cavalry - two Life Guards and two Royal Horse Guards. I'm going to make some as Early Victorian era - with Romanesque helmets - and two late Victorian with the Albert helmet. They will mirror my two existing sets of Britains - but the revived figures will be by the great copyist - Hanks.

I'm going to try and increase my Dragoon collection by adapting a few of the others too.

Here's some pics below - note the heads added to the Hanks in the rear rank ( compare both pics to see differences). [Also note that these heads are recycled Britains Albert helmet heads for two figures - and the Romanesque helmet heads are from Dorset Model Soldiers.]

...But best of all - I like to save them from the bin!

We could call 'em "rescues", too ^&grin That term has become popular to refer to pets obtained from an animal shelter, they've been rescued.

Prost!
