Confererate Infantry No. 2060
Royal Horse Guards No. 2

The top set despite them being in a Britains box are not Britains. I believe them to be Cherilea, at least the mounted figure is.

Pete,

Norman Joplin is pretty good at determining value for older glossy. Maybe you can drop him a line.

Hi Peter,

Some lovely sets here!

Here is what I see, 1st one is a group of band figures and marching soldiers by Johnhillco they are Grenadier Guards and were mainly sold as individual figures. I believe they also came in a version as Scots Guards. These appear to have white plumes on their Bear Skins so that makes them Grenadier Guards. I will see if I can come up with a ball park price for them but I would think about 8-12 per figure.

The Mounted figures are Horse Guards and are from post 1935 (red collars give that away) they are likely from the post war era so I would say about 10 to 15 per figures is a good place to start with pricing. I believe that they were also sold as set 9209 in the 1960s but I will have to see if I can find one of my references.

The last set is a nice one even with the rather typical damage of a missing leg. They are Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Kilt gives the clue here Grass green on dark green from set 2063 and because there is 6 figures its prior to 1960. Price would be 8 to 10 or so per figure. Nice set, I would be interested in, does he have the broken leg? Its not a hard one to fix if so.

The other two sets are Civil War and I will see if I can run down the set numbers if no one else does today.

Hope this helps

Dave

Bandsmen in top "Britains" box - are definitely Johillco Grenadier Guards - and these were their only bandsmen figures. Bass Drummer is not present here. A complete "set" would have 9 figures - although they were sold as individuals and not a set . Four marching at slope look like Johillco too - but the mounted figure is not one that I know.

A set was sold (38/5) with 5 figures by Johillco - though as a smaller Scots Guards Band.

Bottom set is Britains set 2063 - with noticable damage to two pieces. ( both easy to fix) and would therefore, probably benefit from a re-paint. I've seen a set recently marked as 1958 version - and the dealer was asking £60 for it,( no box - six pieces - all complete).

Does that help? jb

Re the Bandsmen at the top, I have some similar, but not sure if they are Britains of Johillco. Did they all have the "comedy giant white plume" on the front of the Bearskin caps? I have several, some with round bases, some rectangular:-
