I,ve just started collecting this range ,and was wondering if their
has been any mention of a WW1 figure for the Blackwatch , the
new releases seem to have jumped ahead to WW2 ??

This is a wonderful series and WWI is definitely missing. If WB makes one, it might look something like this 1916 example from the Osprey book on the Black Watch.

Perhaps Ken or Richard who check into the forum can answer your question. I hope the answer will be yes.

I think a figure along those lines would look very sharp , I guess if they dont
do a WW1 figure in the museum series a figure from their earlier WW1 series
could be used as a stop gap.

Well I bunked of work a bit early today  , [its friday after all ]
and lo and behold my museum figures had arrived from treefrog ,
I,ve got to say britains has well and truly recaptured my interest
after a long absence of buying their figures [under previous ownership I should add ]
first with the few zulus i,ve managed to get and now these guys.
The Sudan figure is my favourite of the group .

Re: Britains museum collection

Very nice congratulations on your purchases. For me the favourite is the Crimean figure, for some reason he is the epitome of the big burly Scotsman that is conjured up in ones mind.

Rob,

These are really nice figures and the Sudan figure is my favourite too.

I agree with you about re-collecting Britains I have just this week bought my first after a 6-year gap, I used to collect them under Ertl’s ownership.

I,ve got to admit thats a very nice figure , although all the scotsman
in my family have been of the short hairy variety ;).

Hi Jeff

I think if you can win back collectors such as ourselves who have given up collecting a companys product , it speaks volumes for the current product.
Now if only we could get a few comrads for that Sudan Highlander :D
p.s what set has snared you .

"Cold Steel" a Modelzone exclusive! I agree that the Sudan really needs to be represented by WB.

Nice collection of Museum figures Rob. I like the Sudan figure also. I just received my two club figures today. The wounded Zulu War British and a free replacement figure of the glossy Sandhurst Cadet.I also received the Highlander club figure. Very nice painting. John

Hi Randy:

Yes, we definitely need to add a WWI 42nd in a more casual pose. As some of you might know we have done 7 World War I 42nd Highlanders in our WWI series already, but they are all in action poses.

Many thanks to you all for the kind comments regarding the range and development of W. Britain under First Gear. Needless to say, Ken, Alan, Dave, Ted, Ralph, Wendy and I all like to see this sort of feedback. Let's face it, it is a business, but at the end of the day we all go home at night and...paint, sculpt and read about history to relax and enjoy as our hobby.

Richard
I don't want to start demanding but please could we have some Dervish Camel attacking a Highland square.

I can see why you picked that one up Jeff ,a realy dynamic looking scene.
[I dont think i,ve ever used the word dynamic before  , the things you
do when describing toy soldiers :)]

John , that wounded figure is very nice isnt it , I still havent seen a britains glossy first hand . I tend to stick a little closer to home when it comes to gloss figures .

I managed to pick up the Biggs 2008 a few years back [it as the 2 figures
with bayonets that were not realised via britains ] a real shame they elected
at the time not too include these guys as they make a very nice group.
