The sgt. with the pike was converted from the figure with his arms out to close the door and the wounded private was converted from the the private leaning down to close the gate. I put the two origanal figures in the picture so you can see what they looked like before i hacked them up:D . I switched the arms from both figures around and repainted them. The hand and sword on the sgt. are from a timpo plastic soldier (couldn,t find a metal one) I may replace this in the future when i find a good metal match for it. The pike I made from a piece of brass rod and 2 part putty. The little cart in the back ground I made from popsicle sticks and match sticks and the wheels are from a cheap bmc cannon.

I also did a few french figures also. The voltiguer that is croached down pushing on the gate can be converted to a running figure by cutting the foot from the base are bending the leg up. I also cut the head off a couple of them and repostioned it so they are looking forward as they run.

The walls in these pictures are X-mas walls that i got on clearance real cheap after the hoilday. All i had to do was paint the snow and add a little flocking to the base.

The trees in the back ground are real braches that i cut from a tree and i put into pink wall insulation that I ruffed up with a wire brush and painted and flocked. The rocks and hills I made from pink insulation also but i used a ruff file to get the rock texture.

Excellent photos.

It looks like you had a lot of fun doing that.

The diorama looks neat and pics are very clear.Good inspiration for me to get off my butt and work on something. John

Yes i had alot of fun doing that! Its the first time I tried useing that pink insulation to make anything but you have to watch out what you put on that stuff becuse i tried this can of flat earth spray paint on it and it melted the insulation and ruined all my work (try out what you put on it on a sample piece first). Those are the first one i tried and they didn,t come out that bad for the first ones. You guys should try it its fun and cheap and looks better than half the stuff you can buy. Just take a walk in the woods and look for some nice little branches and twiggs. I also found that moss stuff at a craft store and its cheap and gos a long way. I used a file for the rocks and a wire brush for earth and then i painted it an earth color and glued hobby grass and dirt on top of that.I made the two bigger pieces like that and i made two trees that are small moveable pieces. I just laid down that green roll up matt and threw the pieces on top of that for a few quick pictures. I did,t put to munch time in the set up. I,d like to in the future make a large piece when I have somewhere to put it. I think the next thing i,ll try is some buildings. I made one out of the popsicle sticks when i was messing making that little cart in the pictures i made but its alot of work but a fun thing to do with the kids. I,ll post a picture when i get around to painting it.

Some spray paints do ruin that foam stuff. I'm working on a foam project right now and i'm using Marc T's suggestion of painting it with black gesso first then paint and highlight.

fishead19690, Thanks for sharing all your tips on how you made your diorama. I'm sure they will help other collectors with ideas on how to be creative with every day objects to make things for their dioramas.
