As I have no Napoleonic sets from Britains, I would like to know if their Collector's Club Napoleonics sets are compatible, sizewise and paintingwise ( are they glossy or not? Can not tell for sure from the photos:mad: ) with Tradition's or other glossy british brand's Napoleonics. The sets I am talking about are the Collector Club sets released in 2005. Thanks in advance for any help.

No they are not glossy, they are matt finish but they are painted with a brighter red then the other britains north gate sets so they may look like they are glossy in some pictures. The painting is a bit less detailed on the club figures and there are no highlights on the face detail so they are a bit more plane looking then the N.gate figures but I like them. They are 1/32 scale and go well with the other britains and frontline but would look small next to K&C.
the picture I added has the club figures with britians north gate figures and frontline all mixed.

Thank you very much, very nice pic. I am thinking of a small Waterloo diorama, but would like to find smaller figures ( real 54mm ) to «build» it, perhaps glossy figures like Tradition or All the Queens Men or both. For the more realistic and detailed figures I would like to stick to K&C and Art IG. Messy plan, right:p ? I even thought of building a big diorama with 1/72 painted figures, but 54mm or bigger are so much better that I gave it up, for now...:D

Check this out for a waterloo square! These are some new figures coming out by heritage miniatures/maison militaire. British square and french cuirassiers. Looks pretty good but a bit up there in price for me by the time its shipped from britain its out of my price range but they look real nice. And is stated as being 57mm so they fall between britains/frontline and K&C size wize!!!

Awesome stuf there Tim. The shipping would be a killer on top of the prices but look wonderful. Thanks for posting.

Hi Tim, that's exactly what I had in mind, but it'll have to be smaller, because of my lack of room :( ( 2 10'X10' bases I guess ). Great picks once again, many thanks. Didn't know about those new figures, thanks for the info. Curiously the mounted figures seem to be less expensive than the foot ones.
Next step for me: get a nice book about Waterloo...:D
Talking about Napoleonics coming from Britain, check this out: http://www.allthequeensmen.com/napoleonic.htm.
What do you guys think of it?

Looks good! Thanks for the tip.:)

The Book our friend Fish mentions is a goldmine especially for the price.

As far as the ALL the Queens men figures, they look great BUT----, I got a couple off ebay a while ago, French Cuirassier and they were very small.Like 50mm.One arrived broken anyway, but they were simply not compatible with Britains/Frontline or anything else .Maybe they were an early set, I don't know.

Hi Fubar,
Do you think All the Queens Men are incompatible with Tradition of London's Napoleonics ? I have none of them but I am considering their napoleonic ranges. Read somewhere that Tradition is more like 50mm... Many thanks.

I wouldnt call Tradition 50mm, but TRUE 54mm. People on this forum and elsewhere call King and country 60mm and they are certainly larger than that!

I have 5 sets of Tradition Napoleonic British and they seem fine with Britains and Frontline. I do not prefer the glossy look though. They were some of the 1st Napoleonics I purchased in factory painted sets. I have been debating for some time as to whether to touch up/repaint /base and matte finish as I think they are great figures, the gloss just doesnt go with everything else. I have enough irons in the fire so they have been sitting in their boxes for several years. Make a nice square though!Maybe I'll get around to it before June when I want to display ALL my troops for Waterloo.Happens every June, I get the Waterloo bug.

I also have a few kits of assorted Frenchmen I assembled and painted some time ago, they are fine and compatible with everything else.Wish I had some more actually!

AQM, well, the 2 mounted I had were very small, not very good paint jobs. Maybe they were castings someone had painted. I was less than impressed, but the figures on their site are grand.I still prefer Matte /flat finish.

my 2 cents. Fish, What do you know about AQM/ Tradition?

Harold heres a link to the site but its not going to do you any good, not yet any way!!! http://www.maisonmilitaire.com/Index.htm
The figures are not on the site yet, I got the photos from the oct/nov issue of the toy soldier collector magazine it was the cover story and it was what got me to buy the magazine I think they look great and would love to get my hands on all of them but the price is just to high and with the shipping from england:eek:   All I can hope is for a deal on ebay that flies under the radar. Maybe they,ll release them as castings like they do with some of there other figures in the future but it said in the artical they they were not available as castings to bad or i,d order some and just paint them myself and save a few bucks.

Fish, Maybe if you buy enough you'll get a shipping/ price break!!!!!!!!!

I would prefer castings as well but as little as I have been painting they would be sitting for far too long.Theres such a nice variety of troops there, I must have some, somehow!

Also, FIsh, I see Italeri have a set with limber/howitzer and 4 horse team with outriders for Guard Horse arty + a rather nice looking mounted officer, at least from the box art!

I heard about the new Italeri french artillary but haven,t seen any box art or figures yet. I picked up the British and Prussain command set 1/32 on ebay a few weeks ago and they look really nice but I haven,t had a chance to get any paint on them yet or the french command set either and I,ve had them sitting around for awhile now. I find it harder lately to get any ambition to do any painting but with that said I can,t wait till your russain artillary sets get to me to get started on them. Somethings inspire you more then others to get off your but and do something. Now you,ve got to get that guy to sculpt some prussains next!!! and maybe some helmeted barvarians!!! and maybe some ect.ect.ect.ect.ect.___________________________________ect.ect.:p

Heres the cover photo and the center fold in 2 halfs to see the cuirassiers that got cut off in the other photo.

Tim, Thanks for posting those images. I really like their multiple basing . The Cuirassier BIG BROTHERS look great. On a sick and twisted note, I like the way the corner of the British square is just about smashed in. Must be some Horse artillery nearby!
Impressive, and the casualties LOOK the way I imagine the squares getting hammered and still holding.

Great stuf, thanks again

Looks good Fish. I still have the other arty train sitting around in its box from maybe 2-3 years ago.I'll have to add the new one to my endless stacks of unfinished plastics and metal.
Now, If they would just pantagraph some of their other 1/72 to 1/32 !

The shipping has got to be murder on that set but if you can afford the whole thing more power to you:)
