With the arrival of the British Infantry late last year, early in 2014 and the already announced Brunswick Infantry (what an awesome choice), was wondering beyond these releases what other items would Britains Napoleonics collectors like to see.

I'd like to see Brunswick cavalry and artillery as well as a mounted Duke of Brunswick.

Would also like to see a Prince of Orange figure and some Dutch Belgian Infantry and some Hanovarian Militia, some Dutch Carabiniers in crested helmets and bicornes along with some artillery would be nice as well.

You'd need all of these as well as British and French for Quatre Bras and Waterloo.

These would be great for 2014 and with 2015 and the 200th anniversary of Quatre Bras, Ligny and Waterloo looming, maybe beyond 2014 some Prussian Infantry, Landwehr, cavalry and artillery as well as a Blucher figure.

The army that opposed Napoleon in the 100 days campaign wasn't called an Anglo Allied one for nothing.

Am interested in seeing what you, the collectors, would like to see from Britians................

Yer Killin me George. I have Waterloo in 28mm about as far as I can take it{ Need YOUNG GUARD, Perry Bros, and some better British Light Battalions} All of the Troops well represented enmasse.
I STILL have a vast collection of 54mm for Waterloo as well as 1812-13. All I really need is more Britain's. They're all I still collect for Waterloo, ACW and Zulu.
But, jeez, yes, bring them on. I'll get a bigger cave.
French artillery would be nice. Line Horse has my vote.Hell, While we're at it, if you want to go down the road to Plancenoit , give us some YOUNG GUARD defending the place.Still need flank companies for those nice Fusilier figures too though. I don't even want to think about Prussians.

Those photos are mind blowing; massive Napoleonic battles in 54mm, you are the king, there is no second place IMO.

While I understand that as a toy soldier manufacturer companies need to play it safe (ie, Waterloo, French vs British), the fact is the Allieds at Waterloo had British, Brunswick, Dutch, Belgian, Nassau, Hanovarian and Prussian elements to it, if as a collector you want to represent that battle in a diorama, you're going to need more than just British and French.

I also wish someone would do a portion of La Haye Sainte for diorama builders, Papelotte as well, the actions in and around those farms was nothing short of knock down, drag out brawls.

George- I agree with you on La Haye Saint. I think the next couple years should be a repeat of Britains' Hougoumont-style coverage depicted all the troops in and around la Haye Saint. Besides that, I desperately need some French artillery from Britains.

Well they did Nassau troops, and Now Lieb Garde for the Brunswick . Not sure if Ducth/Belgians or Hanover are really going to take off . It seems a risk doesn't it. KGL, sure they LOOK like British so maybe .
Perhaps Staying on the Brunswick theme for a bit. A few Hussars, Some Line or light infantry. Maybe a gun set.
I always look to what was common, numerous and yet still lacking in availability. As far as I know there are no Britain's artillery sets for Napoleonic for either French or British/ Allies.
It's a black hole where it all could go.
Thanks for the kind words. I need to make another table for Waterloo display in June.

Excellent topic George! I would love to see additional scenics, various units such as Young Guard, Middle Guard etc etc. artillery Prussians, supply wagons, French medical sets, cassions. I can go on for hours I'm sure.

Le Haye Sainte building and KGL troops.
Artillery for both sides. Preference would be foot.
Dutch/Belgian troops...running...only joking.^&grin
More Nassau troops. I thought the few WB produced years back were excellent and I believe they sold well.
Dutch cavalry
Brunswick cavalry. They look so cool and I bet they would be easy to paint.{sm4}
KGL cavalry
And let's have a good representation of some Allied light cavalry. They were probably involved in Waterloo over a longer period than the "heavies".
They also helped support the Allied squares and helped see off the French massed cavalry charges.
And on a far more sombre note we need more wounded. WB have provided lots of ACW and lately Zulu casualties so Naps would like the same please.
To be honest the list is endless but it is a great way to gauge what the punters like and to see the similarities in our "wants list".
Cheers

Paul,
The buildings in the picture are made by CTS, it's their Hougomont, they basically did the south gate, aka, the gardeners house with the high wall around it.

It's made of foam and is very lightweight, I've probably sold 20 of those in my time as a dealer, it is one of the most popular structures I sell.

It's a smaller version of the spectacular version John at JG Miniatures makes; I had one of those at the OTSN show several years ago, what a show stopper that one is............had hoped John would do more buildings, Nick from Crown Miniatures had plans to do portions of the farm as well, not sure where that project stands............

Some great choices here, I like them all...........

They look like great buildings. I will have to research CTS and see if I can get hold of some of the Hougoumont buildings in the UK.
I have seen the JG Hougoumont South Gate building so many times at the London shows but I am always impressed every time I see it. It's a work of art.
I thought I read somewhere that they were going to make all the buildings. Maybe it wasn't economical.
I'll check out Crown as well.
Cheers for the info.

Cannot really see them from the images, but I used several of the old North gate { 2 sets} without the gates! Also theres probably 4 sets of Britains straight and corner wall sections, their NEW north gate, plus some other Brick buildings and structures. All in the Corner of the battlefield table. Simply no room for it all even if I wanted the JG buildings.
In 28mm, I need Hovels, Hougomont , La Haye Sainte. Still holding off. That's a HUGE sum shipped from the UK, then I have to paint it. Definitely going to need a bigger table.

All good suggestions . Anything Ken comes up with for the Waterloo Campaign , I'll have to get.Britain's keeps me in the 54mm factory collecting game. I forsake the rest of 1/30 for the most part , especially the foot figures. For now.

Old pix, but you can see the buildings a bit better.
Young Guard, Middle Guard, OLD GUARD. Do we dare even think it?

I think Britains dropped the ball with the way they did the Nassau figures they did! They did a very few poses that looked awkward so you could not buy multiples to build up any kind of diorama with them??? Then they had one of the figures with a non regulation beard also???? Had they done better poses that could have been used in multiples to build up a square or something, they would have sold a lot more.
Instead we got a one funky looking running pose of a grenadier that looked real silly if multiple were put together???

If they were only planing on releasing just a few poses they should have done kneeling to repel, standing firing and loading! Sales would have tripled with guys building a square. Instead we got a few figures that we could not do much of anything with???

The new Brunswickers look nice!^&cool And there are poses that work and there are enough of them to build a nice dio with them. Now if I could only afford to buy painted metal.

Patriot had done some brunswickers years back and this was a set I really wanted to see made but they drpped the ball by making them way to large, now that we have a good set coming out I can no longer afford to get them. I might break down and pick up at least a few of these, the photos have been tempting me.

Yeah I have mixed and matched these sets as well. I used the old WB Hougoumont set as the main gate and the new set as an inside barn.
I built up the new version facade set by making some walls to make a barn to house some wounded and the WB surgeon set.
After all that work the whole thing is sitting in bits in a cupboard at the moment while we have some house renovation done but when that's all done I'll have more room and it will be time to play, build and buy more soldiers and hopefully some more buildings.^&grin
