I am a bit concerned that there is no markings of any kind on the wood piece. No offical stamp or branding. So it could basically be a piece of wood from someones backyard.
I have one as well, and I see no reason to not trust the company’s assertion of authenticity at the time. On top of that, as an antique dealer, I can tell you that it is easy to tell that it is oak and that it is very old.
