I have a set of Bengal Lancers from 1922 and I am looking to restore them. Two of the lance tips are missing and there are paint chips on all of the figures. Does anyone know of a repair service? Should the soldiers be re-painted? Does anyone know of a company that puts out replica boxes? Cheers, ssorc1

Hi There,

I think you might be able to find the parts you require to repair the lances at London Bridge Toy Soldier Shoppe. They have a website

www.londonbridgetoys.com

They used to sell unpainted parts so give them a try. As for to paint or not to paint thats a difficult question to answer. If you restore them and decide to sell them you must clearly lable them as restored and this will have an affect on the value. I have some pretty old Lancers from before the first war and will say that I think their worn apparence makes me like them even more. I like knowing they were played with. As for boxes I dont know exactly who is still selling them but I believe Cardigan or 4th Hussar may be able to point you in the right direction. Also if you are dead set on restoring them please let me know and I will get a name of a guy in Kansas that does top notch work according to a highly trusted friend.

All the best

Dave

I can confirm that, London Bridge does still sell replacement parts and castings, they're a licensed supplier of parts for Britain's.

Prost!

Thank you both very much for the quick and helpful reply. I doubt I will have them repainted as they were my grandmothers but I would like to have the lances repaired.
