Hello,
Has anyone purchased 50053C - Collectors Club/ Jack Tars & Leatherneck / British Royal Marine Light Infantry, Peking 1900? If so what are your thoughts on this figure. I am on the fence about this figure as one has to join the collector's club to purchase it.
Thanks
Benjamin

I have one and I love it. Ken has said that there may be more to go with this figure. A must have for Boxer Rebellion collectors

I'd like to see Ken and WB do a Boxer Rebellion range, would be interesting and would be be very colourful I think.
Hopefully when they do feel ready to venture into adding new ranges this will be one of them.
For me it was a shame their Indian Mutiny figures were gloss, if they'd been Matte I'd been in, but I'm sure there are Gloss collectors who say the opposite !

Another item I would like to see WB do more of is civilian horse drawn transport that will work with lots of different eras as they have already done with their Tumbril.

Hi Steve,
I purchased the gloss Indian Mutiny figures and sprayed them with a matt finish. They came out well. Really nicely sculpted figures.

By the way, the matt Black Watch figure for the Indian Mutiny is outstanding, I have six of them and trying to find more. This figure is from Britains Museum range.

Best wishes,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin.

Yes Ken has made some good sculpts of the 42nd in the Museum collection.
If there had been more than the one Indian Mutiny figure, I would of been tempted myself !
I do have several of the Napoleonic Privates and Sergeants.
The FIW Grenadiers are very good sculpts too, but for me in a pose that I couldn't do much with.
It would be nice if Ken and the other sculptors at WB did matte and gloss versions in their various scales, though of course expense will rule that out.
Unfortunately, I think that gloss collectors are becoming rarer and matte is what the majority of remaining collectors like most.

Excuse me whilst I go and put a flak jacket on !

Hi All,

I purchase this figure in the hope that it would expand to a full boxer rebellion range. There must be some thing there for everyone with all the various county's fielding combatants. As Steve mentions it would also be very colorful.

I also have the Indian Mutiny range which are superb with some great sculps and posses. In fact Britains gloss range was at is best then because you had the opportunity of building an entire regiment or diorama which you could not do with the Redcoats range which only offered individual pieces covering different periods. I was lucky enough to collect all the 93rd offerings from the Crimea period and have just completed the 92nd from Napoleonic period with the Kings color.

Having collected most of Britains matt Victorian period pieces I have really taken to gloss again.

Love the Regiments offerings but have had to draw the line as it is outside of my time period.

Enjoy the forum.

Hi guys,

I also got the royal marine figure in the hope that it may be part of a future boxer rebellion range .
A significant part of my collection is " British imperial "....... britains zulus and war on the nile, JJD Sudan , and the now long departed East of India boxer range. I will be getting the Egypt 1882 extension rang for War on the nIle as well. For me the British imperial period is one of the last ones left where there is still " air room" for new ranges ...... Indian mutiny, Boxer, Boer. I would get them all. Some big conflicts here which have been by passed by manufacturers due commercial risks compared to the nineteenth century mainstays of napoleonic and ACW. Wouldnt it be great if manufacturers get over the current fashion for Romans and charged into nineteenth century British empire ? I would have bet that the British imperial collector circle is as big as ancients, if clearly not up there with the big boy periods of ww2, ACW, napoleonic .

For now my Peking marine sits behind the mealie bags in my rorkes drift diorama ........ he blends well enough .

Best
Andrew

I have a selection of British Forces in Peking 1900, all produced by Wilson Edwards Toy Soldiers here in Australia.

Unfortunately, with the sad passing of Craig Pearse a few years back, we won't be seeing any more.

I know that this thread is for Britains, but I thought you may like to see another Royal Marine from that same period.
