Dear All,
Just wanted to share a project that I've undertaken, with you all, and also to ask a question of the forum members generally.

I wanted to repaint an entire army of ACW Britains to match the standards of the First Legion figures that were being released on the market. The big problem with First Legion is that you can't play with them without bits falling off - they are just too delicate. Ken's sculpting is just the best with fantastic movement BUT Britains painting is functional at best (although it's getting much better)

So firstly, just wondered what you thought of my efforts, secondly is there a market for these repaints and thirdly, does anyone want to buy them?

It would be a dream job for me to repaint various ranges - I have tackled Zulu War (white webbing - oh dear) and Napoleonic, and they really come alive with my repaints.

You comments would be appreciated

Ian

Hi Ian. First off let me say I think your repainting efforts are quite impressive. With respect, I don't think the end result matches First Legion but it goes a long way toward making the two compatible. I would be interested in what you have done with the Britains Napoleonics. Perhaps you could post some pictures of those.

I don't agree that you can't move the FL figures around in displays without damage however. I do it all the time with my FL Napoleonics and have had no casualties yet. Perhaps, like painting, it is just a matter of technique.

Best wishes with your re-painting efforts and yes I might be interested in some Napoleonic repaints, depending on the particulars.

I'm guessing that repainting them blows the resale value like taking an action figure out of the plastic. I've been disappointed at close-up looks at the factory paint jobs of Britains and others but marveled at the generally good sculpting and the accuracy of the details of uniforms.

The photos you posted are your repaints? I like them if that's worth anything. ;)

BTW I can see repainting multiples of the same pose to make them individuals.

Wonderful job on the figures!

While Britians doesn’t have the shading and texture of FL, I have always preferred Britains’ style for its simple accuracy. The lack of excessive shading has always seemed more realistic to me.

Fully agree!:salute:::salute:: H&A keep the great job love the style and accuracy..never liked the shading .......
Cheers
