I finally ordered 36127 British Royal Artillery 9 Pound Gun and 4 Man Crew (along with 36126, the command set). They arrived today, and I'm very pleased with the sets, but I noticed that that the hand spike on the cannon bends upwards about 45 degrees from the trail. I'm more familiar with Civil War artillery where the hand spike is simply straight, so I'm not sure if this is how the gun is supposed to be or if my set is bent. Online I've only seen catalogue pictures where you can't see the trail.
Can anybody help out?

Hi Brother Jonathan

Yes this must be how the set is supposed to be, as I have some myself and are all the same.
It does look odd though !

Would of be useful to have a figure using the handspike. as you'd not be leaving it in during firing !

Ken has said in the past that Britains are looking at releasing extra gun crew figures for the different ranges. Hopefully we'll get some suitable figures in action poses.

Of Course I'd like to see them release a Napoleonic RHA piece and crew too.

Many thanks, Steve!

I hope so, too! I really like beefing up my gun crews with extra figures.

Yes, I agree ....

Most makers only make a token number of gunners to man the gun, when in reality there were at least 6 needed.

The only maker who does a full crew recently is John Jenkins with his WW1 Artillery.
K&C is now making a bigger number of gunners as add on figures, and not a set, which is good to see.
That's recently been shown with their WW2 25 Pounders (British and Australian) and Napoleonic French and British Artillery.

My ongoing 'gripe' is that in sets makers always want to have an officer, when in reality the gun is commanded by a Sergeant.

regards,

John

Chinese maker Country Honor is planning to release a Napoleonic RHA set -

With three gunners holding ramrods I shan't be buying a set.
I did suggest they replace 2 of them but they said production was too far advanced.

Does look like they have a fixation with rammers !
Howitzer looks very nice though, If they were to sell the figures separately and add to the crew numbers they'd have a success, still if as reasonable as their other stuff who knows !

Isn't Country Honor the company that got in trouble from First Legion a couple of years ago for copying their figures? I didn't realize they were still producing figures. I thought they were defunct.
