Hello,

Apparently my dad had quite a few British Bulldog troops in his collection that I am now trying to sell. Are they just Britains recast? They look just like old Britains other that they are solid cast instead of hollow. But the figures and postures sure look old Britains.

Thanks,

Dan

British Bulldog wasa a Wales based toy solider company which produced sets in the 70s and 80s. Match up well with Britains, Hocker, Blenhiem and similar makes.

You can see from the attached pic. of a Set by BB of Guards firing - just how similar they appear to the old Britains original versions. Even down to the design of the box and presentation of the figures inside.

BB was just another of the several British small scale producers of "New Toy Soldier" companies which came along - to fill the vacuum caused - when Lead Toy Soldier came to a halt when Britains stopped producing metal (1966) - and plastics came in. Many never altogether, really filled the wants of the serious TS collector - and many companies continue to come and go, like this one - and fill the void until the present day, although some have succeeded (like K&C) - and even "New Britains" who are now American owned and run. jb
