Andy's Commando's and British Infantry are good looking but too Small; next to comparing ( EAO1-HIGHLANDER'S )? Why isn't he making the same sizes, anymore? We can't Mix and Match in our Diorama's; it would be awkward looking? Anyhow, is K & C, continuing with MORE British Infantry, Armor, Vehicles, and ( Possible Repainting EA04--EA05 ), in European Color?s

John, are you asking Andy these questions or the forum? If you are asking the forum I'd say no I hope he's not thinking about anymore Brits, but thats selfish of me because I dont collect them. The Americans are where its at in my book. If he does more Brit's he should do them stuck around Caen for months on end while my boy Patton was rolling across France!

Oh God the septics are off again! :)

I'm happy to see more Brits anyway. Can't wait for the British airborne stuff next year.

Brian,

You know that's not the full truth. Both the Americans and British forces were bottled up for awhile. It speaks volumes to the higher quality of the German forces in Normandy. Attrition eventually did take its toll on the German forces.

Regarding John's question, Andy did tell me that around D Day, he will have more British forces so we know that's coming. What I don't know and I didn't ask but I will when in Chicago. Plus, let's not forget the British Sherman coming out in December and Airborne (Pegasus) next year. That should be spectacular. Plus, 8th Army in early 2006. For us British-philes that's not bad. No complaints from me.

As far as height of the recent British releases, it seems fine to me.

As far as the American releases, they don't really do that much for me. The DUKW is nice but how many sets of Rangers or paratroopers can you have?

Cheers,

Now after what I am about to say, remember, I have the greatest admiration for K&C and I am an addicted collector.

I think the vehicles that K&C makes (like the GMC 6x6, the 3/4 ton weapons carrier, the second half-track, the US amoured car, the Krupp truck, and the german armoured cars and half-track) are far superior (to my tastes) to anything else being made. However, the tanks are not my cup of tea. I think they are too artisy and not realistic enough. They are resin and you can tell. I do not collect any of them and I recently sold the three I had to Shannon and Pete (the German Panzer II and the Panzer IV and the last Tiger). I no longer own any K&C tanks and I do not believe I will purchase any others until they begin to look more real to me. The Britains Panzer Mk IV's, I think, are superior. The FOV stuff (although I wish it were just a bit larger) is more what I think a tank should look like.

What does this have to do with the British troops and their future? My tastes in amour are different than the next collectors. I think that a mix of sizes is good for a diorama. Not all of us are the same height. Not all buildings are the same size. Life presents itself in a variety of sizes and shapes and I believe that my dioramas should also. So I mix Britains, Contes, Frontline, FOV and others with my K&C men. I only collect K&C men and I think the Brits are wonderful (in all of their varieties from Andy). I just got the DD58 (British motorcycle with captured Germans) and it is another work of art. The motorcycle and the faces are real. I am just amazed at the quality I am getting for the price. Plus I like the suprise of not knowing what K&C is going to produce and seeing the new releases. :D

Brad,

Don't blame me my friend...I'm not the one that said I could take Caen on D-day! :p

I think Sceic2's point about the vehicles has some merit. I have 5 K&C tanks and as display pieces they look amazing. I love my K&C Stugs, Tiger, Jagpanther and Churchill but in some ways its the figures that make them worthwhile. I feel the vehicles complement the figures rather than the other way round.
Take a look at the K&C Matilda and the FOV Matilda, the actual tanks look identical it's just the K&C figures that make a difference and, of course the huge price difference.
Secondary market aside i don't feel the K&C vehicles are all that superior to FOV.

I've seen a post from Andy in the past where he discusses FOV tanks and the fact that they have no resale value. That may be so but let's face it you can maybe buy 3 or 4 FOV tanks for the price of 1 K&C tank.

I may be classed as a heretic but sometimes i wish either K&C figures were small enough to go with FOV or maybe FOV was slightly bigger!

K&C figures are head and shoulders above the rest.

Aah c'mon Warbuff shall we list all the times US military have said they are going to do something and it ends up FUBAR.

What was the hurry around Caen anyway that was worth sacrificing troops against high quality opposition? The main objective was to open a second front and take some of the heat off the Russians.

Soooo, Like I thought the war was over and we all won, including the German people who got rid of the horror called Nazism.

Brian,

You know that this is still controversial and for a good analysis I recommend Carlo D'Este's Decision at Normandy. Whether it was intended or not (and contrary to what Monty said, I don't believe it was), the battle for Caen had the effect of siphoning off a great deal of the German troops that would have otherwise been available in the western Cotentin Penninsual to battle the Americans and made that battle all the much harder. As it was it still took a long time for the American breakout.

Regarding K & C tanks v. FOV, to me they aren't comparable. Apples and oranges. Yes, you can get 3 or 4 FOVs for one K & C but of course the quality is 3 or 4 times as high in all respects: the detail, the quality, every which way. But to each his own. Now, the K & C are weathered so I don't get the criticism about it being artsy. Look at the Churchill. That's an amazing tank. I don't like to mix figures because the quality is so different. If they weren't no problem. But the Britains can't hold a candle to K & C.
