I guess this classifies as a Diorama... a mini one maybe.

Here's a Tamiya Cromwell tank in 1/35 scale that I've had in my closet for years. I don't really build plastic anymore, but due to current budget constraints and not being able to purchase the K&C Cromwell (other things are higher on the purchase list right now) I decided to try my hand at building/painting again. I built and painted this kit this past weekend.

I found out a couple of things in the process... a) I don't see nearly as well as I used to when it comes to gluing/painting small parts, b) 1/35 scale is a lot smaller than 1/30, even more than I realized (that's stating the obvious I guess) and c) I don't have as much patience as I used to! It was fun though and I still have a closet full of unbuilt kits.:)

Great job, Duke!:cool: I haven't built a model since I was a kid, but I have a closet full of the old Bandai 1:48 scale military model kits I used to build when I was a kid. I am waiting until my 4-1/2 year old turns 7, and then I am going to build them with him, and help him make his own diorama to display in his room. I always wanted my dad to build models with me when I was a kid, but he never had time . . . so I figure this is something my son and I can do together :)

Thanks Louis. That sounds like a good plan to build model kits with your son one day. My son is also almost to the age of building models. I asked him the other day when I got this one out if he wanted to build one as well (I have some fairly simple 1/72 airplane kits), but he said no for now. He looked at mine and said "daddy that looks complicated".

Duke, I was hesitant on getting the KC Cromwell, but I got it and really like it. Its a big tank. You may want to put this higher on your "get" list.

Great-looking Cromwell, Duke! Maybe you'll get the itch to do some more scale modeling, too. Who says you can't enjoy both hobbies? :D If your sight isn't what it used to be, I recommend an OptiVisor, I got one last year, and I wish had bought one years ago, it really makes a difference.

Louis, that's a great idea, and it's one more way to get him interested in history.

Prost!
Brad

I still at some point would like to get the K&C Cromwell. It looks like a good model.

Thanks Brad, and thanks for the suggestion about the Optivisor. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks, Brad. I am really trying to teach Alec history, and he plays up in the museum just about every day, so I am hopeful he will remain interested in history.:)
