With all the excitement over the Tigers I was wondering what people who saw them thought of the British Paras?
What size were they? 1/35?
How many different figures were there?

Most importantly, to Rick, are they going to be available in the UK?

Cheers

James

The Paras and Wermacht troops were an improvement on Figarti's earlier figures, but were still no where near the quality of K&C and Honour Bound figures (not even the relatively primative K&C Arnhem paras from 1995-1998). If the Pegasus Bridge diorama ends up getting mass-produced, I will populate it with K&C figures.

Cheers for the info Louis. Your feelings tally with mine though I was just basing it on the pictures.
The bridge itself looks amazing. What an incredible diorama that could make.

Blimey, thought that bridge was a one off!.If they produce them i'm there, can you imagine how they will look when (one day) K&C make their paras.

The bridge itself is a one of a kind (I believe) made by a member of this forum. However, at the Show I discussed with Rick his plans for attempting to produce it for sale. The biggest concern was shipping: both weight and breakage being factors to consider. Rick asked me what materials I thought would work. I suggested a light metal (aluminum?) for the stanchions, railings and other detail pieces, and sheet metal or very thin plywood coated and painted (like the K&C dioramas) for the flat sections (roadway, walls, etc.).

I would hate to see it produced in polystone or resin, because these materials are both fragile, and in the case of polystone, heavy. Plastic would look cheap, or if it was resin-like hard plastic (like on a model plane or tank) would also be fragile.

Wood, metal, card and papier mache like a custom K&C diorama (the K&C 8 foot long Arnhem Bridge diorama being a perfect example) would look great and be light enough, but the cost might be prohibitive for the average collector. We'll have to wait and see if Rick and his team can solve the problem.

Part of the issue would also be size. If Figarti goes into production with this, I would want to see it made in several sections - so a collector with limited space can still have parts of the bridge on display.

Not everyone has a wife who allows large areas for display

Sorry Steve,

I thought someone here on the forum had produced the Bridge along with the Lewis & Clarke diorama and a diorama for the Tiger Tank to be displayed on which was lost in the mail. You certainly know better than I when it comes to Figarti.

Nick Nasta did the Lewis and Clark and the European City that never got there, he also does work for my dioramas. I am almost afraid to mention that he will do custom work for members and has some buildings already available. For fear of getting accused of "Peddling" check our section in the other Forum to inquire if necessary. Firebat

Dear All,

The bridge is not a one off thing and we did build it in Shanghai and shipped it to Chicago. We have pretty much decided on how to construct the bridge and how to package it for collectors. The bridge won't be cheap, I am estimating anywhere from US$600-800 for the bridge. However, if we can produce it cheaper, we will lower the price accordingly.

The British Paras will be available to everyone including collectors in the UK. However, at this time, Figarti products are not well represented in the UK so if anyone can refer an agent for me, would appreciate it. We will be at the London Show in December.

I don't agree with Louis's "C-" grade on our figurines! Louis, I love your A++ grade on our tanks but C- for our figurines is a little too harsh. I think we have come a long ways but we do know we can do better. Give us some time, we are still a very young company.

Another possible reason for the bias grading system could be size and style. We are smaller in size compare to K&C and HB and our paint style is less line painting and more realistic painting.

But I will not be defensive because I too think we have much room to improve with our figurines, but a "B" would be more fair in grade and we definitely should get the bonus "E" for effort!
